Getting rather annoyed by these major revision updates that don't really add anything special from a consumer point of view.
That's kind of how Nintendo has always rolled for some reason. Even in the 3DS scene "major" updates just added a few underhood changes, but nothing interesting for the consumer. I would be upset, but honestly, I've just gone numb to Nintendo's stupid update cycles.

I suspect the version numbers aren’t for us from Nintendo’s perspective. The end user is supposed to just update when told to. Why should we care what version number it is?

The update has been out for like 2 hours. You have to give more time for anything interesting to happen.

Oh I see, I got banned from SSBU for tamper with save, so I was wonder if could be upgraded to full console ban.

However, I was told by Splatoon 2 and SSBU players that their ban didn't get upgrade recently.

I mean, you aren't wrong. I am pretty sure the average user doesn't care about the number nor even cares too much about the update.
But it still doesn't change the fact that their update cycle is janky as fuck for those who do pay attention to it. I don't think I can even name another company who pushes out major updates with minor changes and minor updates with major changes, Nintendo seems to be the only company who does that.

Reminds me of TWiLight Menu.

You can almost hear the desperation as Nintendo scrambles to attempt to patch up a gigantic hole in a sinking security ship with cling film and old pieces of chewing gum.

Nah.. Keeping the scene busy will also divert their attention away from hacking the patch unit. Unpatch switch are getting rarer and rarer.

I mean, I think the focus at the moment is more "building the existing homebrew scene" as opposed to "trying to expand the number of homebrewable units when the homebrew ecosystem is still in its infancy". That's just my take on it though.

Either way if it is them trying to divert attention then they're... not exactly doing a very good job as seen by the fact that it only took 2 hours to hack 7.0.0

I guess what I was saying is that from the end user’s perspective this may seem like a minor update, but since the numbers aren’t for us, it’s just another update.

This may, for Nintendo, be a major update, and the security changes may correspond with what for them would dictate a new version number. It hasn’t been fully analyzed yet, so we don’t really know what’s been done. But again the numbers are for them, not us.

Edit: Whoa, spoke to soon! Already hacked!

He worked with SciresM to get the keys and SciresM retweeted said tweet as well so it's legit

Edit

Looks like there has been a major change in how TSEC keys are loaded or something in 7.0.0 so I presume this will probably mean some new methods will have to be developed to get Custom Firmware going with the new keys we have. (Don't quote me on any of this, if I'm saying something completely and utterly stupid then please quote this and correct said mistakes, thanks)
