I have a PS4 Pro running 5.05 and I was wondering if it was even worth keeping the PS4 hacked or just update and lose the possiblity to hack? I want to play God of War and Spiderman and a few other psn exlusive things.

Not to be rude or anything - but that decision is 100% yours to make.
You won't get far if you count on homebrew but you have PS2 emulation + all games in the PS4 library up until, approximately, Detroit: Become Human.
Whether it's worth it for you depends on what kind of games you play and what you would like to use the console for.

I was thinking that the PS4 Homebrew scene was as cool as the switch scene (omg so much cool stuff) but I'll just update when I pickup Spiderman later this week. Thanks for the input

Don't do something you will regret man. You listed you want to play God of War. that's a 5.05 game ! After you beat that, pick another backlog title. Chit, ps4 went apechit on remasters, the only one I took the time to complete was Last of Us and The Order1886, still have Until Dawn and a bajillion other remasters.

Then when ya realize, FFS all these bajillion backlog games from this gen, last gen, gen before last. SO MUCH BACKLOG, I just want to enjoy IRL. Then ask yourself, do you really want to play Spiderman?

Do you ... well... you close that door, then you will be in the category of people actually enjoying their games, because they pay for them, find value in them, and don't have many games anyway.

Blue Pill or Red Pill. Looking back I wished I didn't take the pill leading down the endless rabbit hole abyss.

I bought a 5.05 PS4 and, to be honest, have hardly touched it. I still use my main unhacked PS4 mostly. I don't have huge amounts of time to game to be fair. If I did it might be worth it but as it is, it's not really enhanced my life. I guess it's a money saver though if youre not fussed about newer games. And if it DOES ever get hacked to a higher firmware (who knows?) then you may find it hard to purchase one at a reasonable cost.

You can play GOW on 5.05.

If you update you lose the ability to hack it.

If I were you I would sell it and buy another one, so to preserve the 5.05 FW.

Where are you based? I wouldn’t mind a 5.05 PRO :)

Edit: ah USA, never mind :P

I would suggest getting a spare PS4 if you have the money, 5.05 system are rare, there are a decent amount of games to play, if you want to play games require 5.50 or higher or play online then maybe you can update or buy a new unit. Like Kiiwii said you can play God of War of 5.05.

What other emulation and homebrew apps are available that are popular and working out of curiousity?

What are people using in the scene?

Updating a 5.05 Ps4 is just about the dumbest thing you Can do. Hell if you sell it, you can buy like 2 or 3 normal ps4s lol

At the time i wasnt aware the ps4 was hackable, and god of war was coming out, i did the preorder, and to preorder i had to be latest firmware 5.50

Nes emulator, doom v4, brutal doom v4, Retroarch 2048 core, orbis manager, file manager, Tetris, OpenGL perf and gl Es demos.

There is also homebrew via ps2 classics, snes, OpenBOR, and more.

Just hack and play all before games 5.05 firmware. So, if you play all games, then update it (maybe 5.55 kexploit will be released until you play all tons of games)
Keep the 5.05 firmware!

The scene has been quiet about that, there is not much talk about it and no estimate time of release, so it might be a few months or up to like a year maybe with no estimate time of public release. 5.05 was released few months after 4.55, like 4 months I believe.

Some rumour going about that’s Kiwidog, thefl0w and now pr0xima are all turning their attention to PS4 SAMU.
