Hacking USB Loader GX stuck at Init USB Device when booting 2nd time

As I said, it's my first time with a Wii

that's not a problem, we all have to start somewhere.
the thing is most users install the wrong file into priiloader (the loader itself), and therefore it creates issues, like missing menus and features.
Priiloader doesn't unlock all the features if used to launch the boot.dol or the forwarder.dol

the proper way to install in priiloader is this :
1- get latest loader revision (look in my signature, or on sourceforge release site)
2- get the forwarder channel for your console (wii or vwii), latest version.
3- get the special priiloader dol

- extract 1 to your SD card (it's better to use SD card, please don't use USB for homebrew especially if your HDD has init issues!)
- install 2 with a wad manager
- install 3 inside priiloader's boot menu

now priiloader will boot the forwarder channel, which will boot the boot.dol on SD card with all the features unlocked.

That was only for priiloader proper setup.

Now, for HDD initialization issue, you need to set the IOS to 58.
You can either
- edit the meta.xml (not a clean method, but it works if you don't forget to remove the commented lines)
- go to the loader settings > Loader's IOS : set it to 58
there's a GUI for that option, why not use it?

Yeah, that's how I have it setup now and almost everything is working. The only issue I have is with Goldeneye that freezes randomly, mostly at menus or cutscenes. I've seen quite a few posts about and it seems to be a problem title but I've got so much to play that I don't care for now. My only remaining question is regarding cIOS, the guide I followed suggests

I've read on older posts that you prefered v8 final, is that still true or are my choices correct?
This wii wasn't being used for a few years, former owner loaded backups from an external dvd drive.

V10 r52 is the same as v8 final, with only one single line difference in the sources which supposedly helps in HDD detection.
If you have HDD detection issue with v8, you can try r52. if v8 works fine you don't need to update to r52, but there's nothing wrong using r52.
the problem is r53, and it's just easier for people to use v8 without alternate version choice, while v10 has both r52 and r53 most users think latest is better and install r53 without knowing the differences.

your setup is good.
Just know that having cIOS installed in the console is not enough, you need to actually use the one you want.
you should go to usbloadergx settings and edit all reference of 249 to 250, because based on your setup slot250 has a better cIOS than the one in slot 249.


random freeze can be because you use flash drive instead of hdd ?
or it can be power issue (but it should affect all games)
it could be cable issue (sometime it helped users by using a different, shorter hdd cable)
it could be sleep timer, the cIOS should keep the drive awake every 60seconds, but sometime hdd don't stay awake even with that prevention code.
but again, most causes should affect all games, not just one.
