Nintendo Online cloud save service will not work for every game

Though Nintendo's online service is launching soon, full information is sparse. One piece of knowledge has been revealed recently, likely accidentally due to the delayed direct, however, in regards to cloud saves. If you pay for Nintendo Switch Online, which gives you cloud save support, you might want to know that not all of your games will be compatible. Certain listings for games on Nintendo's site specify that they will not work with Save Data Cloud backup. These listings include Pokemon Let's Go, Splatoon 2, Dark Souls Remastered, Dead Cells, FIFA 19, NBA 2K19, and NBA Playgrounds.

For the above games that are multiplatform, they do indeed support cloud save support on other consoles with PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold.

Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for online play. This game does not support Save Data Cloud backup.

This is reasonable. No one complained about the save backups the 3DS did, this shouldn't be any different. Especially Pokemon Let's Go, people would abuse the hell out of it since you can easily clone Pokemon like that. It's clearly going to have a option to transfer your Pokemon to a mainline Pokemon game.
NBA and FIFA I'm pretty sure use online saves anyways with your EA/2K account. Other than Dark Souls and Dead Cells, I don't see a reason why people are complaining.

Save backups on the 3DS were free. They are not free on the Switch. Huge difference.

Splatoon 2 online information is also saved locally, not online.

Absolutely pathetic on Nintendo's part.
Of course, people will still defend it with, "Oh but it's so much cheaper than Microsoft and Sony!"
Yes, but you get (or don't get) what you pay for.

Whether Nintendo likes it or not, they are directly competing with free community homebrew. And right now, they're losing.

An hacked Switch has a high chance to be banned though.

pretty sure 20 dollars a year is a bargain compared to XBL or PSN

I think the price is not the problem. 20 dollars a year would be fine. But what sucks is the service. No chat, no voip, no community like miiverse.. Thats what sony and ms have since years.. And after the wiiU with miiverse it feels like a step back, and then you have to pay for it? For what? That‘s why people are upset.

Thank God for Checkpoint lol I got backups of backups thanks to that and I can put it in my Mega Cloud :)

Switch/3DS aren't skipping support in some games because their online service is too cheap, its because those games support local internet-free multiplayer. Sony and MS completely rule out any multiplayer abuses with cloud saves because you can't connect multiple systems together without internet, and anything sensitive can just be stored online. Not so with handhelds that you have to be able to take outside of your house.

Nintendo could definitely be doing some things better (Splatoon should really at least save your rank online), but forcing cloud saves on all titles is onerous and burdensome when devs want the option to support local multi without inviting easy cheating.

Worst online paid service confirmed, reasons-:

1. Worst paid multiplayer service, still utilises p2p connection in this day and age, you're literally paying to use your own internet, compared to other services that use dedicated servers for their games.

2. Classic free games we've all played 100 times already on previous nintendo consoles compared to competing paid services that offer triple AAA and exclusive titles for free.

3. Worst cloud save implementation, pay or you're shit out of luck if you missed out on your renewal date, no manual save backup aswell compared to the competition.

4. Only a few games will support clould saves, huge titles missing from cloud save support pokemon and splatoon 2.

5. Still using friend codes to add people to your friend list in this day and age, no voice or text chat on console.

6. You need to have a smartphone to have any kind of voice chat support, if you don't have one, that's one less feature you're getting out of the 20$ yearly subscription.

This is probably the most atrocious and malicious business decision nintendo has ever made as a company, and if you're supporting them on this venture then you're a problem to the gaming industry, one which is as big as microtransactions and dlc season passes.
