Since I found one somewhere,I was wondering how soft modding works for it.

There are multiple ways to soft mod a wii, Some better than others depending on what you have. If you have a way of writing to a memory card, there are plenty of save exploits here: http://www.gc-forever.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=39&sid=288354431b1c79e15408de1f98fe36d9 . There are a few other methods, like the SDML as cracker suggested. But whatever you do, you will need an SD Gecko (look on ebay, it's an SD to gamecube memory card adapter, ~$2) and/or some blank DVD-Rs (NOT RWs. using these will fix the "problems cracker has suggested in loading backups.) EDIT: Ninja'd

You will need an SD Gecko device, they are cheap on amazon or eBay. You will also need an exploit game or an Action Replay disc in order to launch Swiss. Heres a nice reference:

Forgot to mention that you will need a gamecube memory card and a way to write the exploit saves to it. A soft modded Wii with gamecube ports is probably going to be the best option. I think this was mentioned above.

Well i have a gamecube memory card already.I just need that gecko reader and a exploitable game or spend 50$ on a sd media launcher.I also have that gba player thing on the bottom if that helps any.

Exploit game will require the exploit save on your memory card, GCMM is a homebrew that can write the exploit saves to your memory card but you need another soft-modded Wii or Gamecube to do it. If you get an action replay you do not need to worry about exploit saves, you will only need the SD Gecko. The gba player is neat, it won't work without a gba player disc normally. If you manage to get Swiss running you can use GBI to run gameboy games without a disc.

Ok guys I've done a bit more research.

It seems that I'll need to dump about 100$ for the following to get the gamecube softmodded for backups

-sdhc 32gb sdhc

-4gb sd non hc

-sd media launcher (action replay)

-sd gecko (for reading sdhc cards with more memory)

The way it works is you use the memory card that comes with the action replay disc to read the 4gb sd non hc card with the action replay and swiss software on it.

Once you boot into the action replay menu you can pretty much use that to boot into swiss which is what's used to load up the backups.Once swiss is booted up,that's where the sd gecko and the 32 gb sdhc card(or more if you want more space) comes in since the gecko is needed to boot bigger sd cards that are sdhc's,Since the one that comes with the media launcher can only read non hc cards, but it is still needed to boot into swiss, unless the gecko can be used to boot into swiss aswell without the limited sd card reader.

I'm running backups off of a single SD card for essentially ~$15 lost, depending on how much you can buy/sell a wii for. $10 for a small SD card and a pack of DVD-Rs, $2 for an SD gecko, and $3 for an exploitable game (007 Agent Under Fire Or Spinter Cell, two cheapest games as of now). But really it would be better to keep the wii to run backups, since wiis can run both gamecube and wii backups well from an SD card, discs or a USB hard drive. The only reason to softmod a gamecube is really for the gameboy player and a few other things, which wouldn't require DVD-Rs.

I'll admit that I haven't kept up on the GC scene. The last I tried Swiss was when it was really new and only booted images off of SD and then bits in passing over the years about the ongoing problems of streaming from SD. I have a Viper GC and crystal cube case so I've not needed to keep up on softmods.

Just install the xeno chip. it’s really easy also if your nervous about soldering use wires. I personally got some kapton tape and covered the areas I didn’t wanna solder too with it then I soldered the board directly to the mobo.
