Feel a bit bad for bringing up another thread about it after only just getting some games to run, but I noticed that the frame rates in every 3D game I play are quite poor. And before you bring it up, I have a powerful PC.

However, when bringing that up, I have to wonder if this emulator is tailored specifically for certain GPU cards, such as Nvidia. I know Dolphin runs every GameCube game at full speed, but it has had many more years of development and is optimized for Nvidia, AMD, etc. It is no surprise it can run every game well on every video card.

This worries me, as I fear it may take several more years until the games are optimized for more than Nvidia cards. Is there any unofficial versions of the emulator optimized for a wider spread of cards? Because that would be real great if there was! I just want to play some more games on here and so far, only 2D ones appear to run pretty well. Excluding Rhythm Heaven Megamix, which doesn't run at all. I know Ishiiruka Dolphin is a good example, as it runs better on certain cards than the official version.

Citra still has a lot of development time ahead of it compared to Dolphin. In the meantime, I recommend buying a real 3DS and supporting the system.

I've played the 3DS for several years and just want to play on a screen with a controller.

Still, if it can't even run the majority of games at full speed at all, it seems rather pointless to even release it at all.

Opengl only. AMD's opengl driver is slower than Nvidia's, so will get better performance on an Nvidia card. Cemu (another opengl only emulator), has the same issue, with everything else in a system being equal, nvidia users get better performance on it.

Only hope is that the emulator gets optimised enough, that the slower opengl driver doesn't matter and can still reach the desired framerate or vulkan/direct X is added.

You....don't know how community-sourced development works, do you? On the same token, it seems rather pointless to try to help self-entitled people who lack even the most basic of understanding of how things work, like why the emulator exists at all. If all you want is basic end-user piracy, I suggest ponying up the money for a better GPU or waiting if/until Citra adopts Vulkan or something.

Yeah, that would be nice. It's a real shame to own the highest end of the GPU brand I have, only to realize it doesn't matter due to it not being Nvidia. I hope they consider supporting the other video cards in the future.

not going to sugarcoat it but ya get what ya pay for AMD for GPUs lately is teh budget side of pc gaming, with Nvidia like Intel, you pay a premium for a reason.
its only recently that AMD's been making Intel sweat bullets in the CPU Market.

Yeah, that is unfortunate.

Also, might as well ask here since I've been making too many threads on here lately and it doesn't really need a whole thread, but does anyone know if, say you have firmware 11.7, that you can use that homebrew app that loads up the eShop to buy games from it so you do not have to update to 11.8? There was a game I was meaning to buy for a while, but regretted not doing so when I found out about the patch having potential to ban certain homebrew functionality. Assuming that "link account" feature means a ban from your Nintendo Network ID could ban your Nintendo Account as well, I would rather stay at the firmware version I am at, but still buy that game I want.

And if so, could somebody guide me to the most recent version of said app.

@Notshane If the reason for Citra is just for a Screen and a controller, why not Install CFW and install Input Redirection. I have done this with my Katsukity New 3ds XL Console and its amazing. Using an Xbox One controller with my 3DS.

The only time I tend to use Citra is if I want to record my Pokemon Wifi battles in a Higher, cleaner resolution.

Though I am using a i7 6850K, Dual Nvidia 1080 Seahawks, 128gb DDR4 Ram, and multiple SSD/HDD. So my system is a little crazier then most, but I usually have a few frame drops when walking around in PKMN USUM. Citra is definitely not perfect. I remember it took years for Desmume to work out all the issues.

Never had AMD graphics to Try with Citra, but the lower the card, usually the lower the performance from what I have seen. I have a few older machines with lower and out date cards and it doesnt seem to work as well.
