I will never understand you... And I'm okay with that

Well that's the nice thing about having different devs. ReiNX makes complete sense to me and is my preferred solution. I like flexibility. I like devs who are humble, and I like stuff that works without digging around for different pieces. I also like devs that are real about what their community wants rather than pretending people care about particular moral and ethical vendettas.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

So what is the general consensus with the nogc patch? How much does it lag the console during daily use? Or is it only going in/out of sleep mode?

it lags a lot of stuff. If you leave your GC empty it's not an issue but if you have a game cart in it creates a lot of lag in a lot of places.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

On the topic of the nogc file, I noticed the delay coming out of sleep mode from the @Darth Meteos 2.3 stash; but I never saw that particular file in the 'reinx' folder (or anywhere for that matter). Any ideas what could be causing the delay?

I DO see the file in the newly updated 3.0.1 though, which I haven't installed yet.

Previous releases had nogc baked in, and it was not consistently baked in for all firmware versions. That's why it seems confusing. They've really made it clearer and simpler as the releases have progressed. Remember this stuff is all "in process" until they say "this is an official release"

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Either one, im fine with it, I just want the option of being able to access the Album.

yeah I gotcha. I'm being selfish with my comment. I'd prefer easy access to homebrew rather than album. But for sure, especially if you are in no fuse burn autoRCM land you want a way to get to the album. I don't use the album but others might need to.

There’s no thing as 512GB Micro SD card from Verbatin, you have a fake card from wish or wtv and when you pass the real limit of the card it starts overwriting older data
It's not a big lost.
If I knew my Wife ordered it from wish "I would've known from the jump", ..it was fake.

Shit happens. lol

@Darth Meteos

Some common questions on the discord FAQ items:

What is NOGC?

NOGC refers to “NO GAME CARTRIGE”. The feature prevents the game cartridge slot from working.

Why would I want my game cartridge slot not to work?

If you update your system firmware from <4.0 to 4.0 or greater then the game cartridge ASIC gets an update. It has some protection that keeps you from using the game cartridge slot with LOWER firmwares than 4.0. For example if you update from 3.0 to 5.1 you would be able to go back to 3.0, but you would not be able to use the game cartridge slot if the game cartridge slot had been updated. NOGC prevents the update to the game cartridge ASIC. Note, the game cartridge slot update is believed to have occurred with system firmware 4.0.0. If you are already above 4.0.0 NOGC likely doesn't matter.

Why is my switch slow after installing ReiNX?

If you have a game cartridge installed, try taking it out. If the switch speeds back up then the NOGC feature is WORKING. You shouldn’t be able to run cart games if the feature is turned on

How to I turn off NOGC?

You can remove the NOGC feature by deleting the NOGC file from sdcard/REINX/ folder.

Where can I get the stash/nudes/pizza/files/meteos magic etc?

It’s pinned in the discord, you shouldn’t need to ask. Simply click on the pin icon in the upper right hand corner of the Reiswitched discord.

Wait, NOGC? But, my game cartridge slot worked fine with version XXXXX of ReiNX?

Sorry, there have been some architecture changes. As of 3.0.1 the above is how it all works.

WARNING:
the NOGC feature should be enabled with a lowercase nogc file (no extension, empty file). The 3.0.1 stash has upper case NOGC. Uppercase is incorrect though it may work for some. The source code dictates lower case nogc.

just LOVE ReiNX and using since first day. But I have a problem. I'm on 4.1 FW with exFAT support (used ChoiDourNX). I can boot fine ReiNX latest payload but I can't use Edizon or Chackpoint for backup my saves.

I can backup a save using RajNX (sorry to mention that) but can't using ReiNX. In ReiNX it freezes when it wll start to save. I guess it's a issue about sdcard writing..

@Reisyukaku

Bit of a shitstorm on the discord (reinx-help) regarding NOGC/nogc, dont support you could take a look?

This commit seems to say a file called "nogc"

https://github.com/Reisyukaku/ReiNX/commit/ca5deee16a30ff41f64a150a085e0028224bedb3

The latest files have a file called "NOGC" and few users have confirmed its not working, also probably have updated GC readers too :(

They report "nogc" is working though, can you clear up the confusion?
Commit says 'nogc', my release says 'nogc', meteos didnt know it was case sensitive and made it caps to make it more noticeable i guess, because people dont read

I just tested NOGC with Meteos 3.0.1, sysfirm 5.1, exfat. Both NOGC and nogc work. Are we sure fopen is case sensitive in the context it is being used (exfat/fat32 and in that fopen library?)

Someone said fatfs isnt case sensitive but idk. Would rather play it safe.

For sure, we should be using what you intended. I'm just trying to sort out the truth of it... for science. :)

plus it's a good thing to know as a developer whether fopen is case sensitive with various file systems as it could be a mess if the wrong assumption is made by someone.

At least 2 people have confirmed on "nogc" work, in the discord so dont want to name drop them here. Helpers have seen their reports so i'm not making this up :)

At least on Macs exfat is case sensitive, but its a closed src filesystem so who knows.

@Reisyukaku if I remove the fs_mitm.kip from sdcard then I can save a backup with no problems

creport does that.. you can just add that kip if you want. Either way no reports is just as bad as bad reports. People get banned either way.
I think it's been proven that modifying the error reporting sysmodule so error messages don't get sent (which is not the same thing as deleting error messages) makes it harder to get banned....?

How does RajNX work for you?
