Tales of Vesperia PS3 fantranslation to stop being distributed

Before this year's E3 reveal during Microsoft's show, Tales of Vesperia's Japanese-only content could only be played on PS3, and thanks to a fantranslation team, there was even a patch that translated all of the new content. However, due to Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition being announced, the team has decided that they'll be removing the patch from their site, and are asking fans to stop hosting any form of their patch.

As such, we have decided to withdraw our fan translation patch. This translation was always intended to allow the English speaking Tales fanbase to fully enjoy the PS3 exclusive Vesperia content, and it has served this purpose well for a few years now. But with this announcement it is no longer neccessary, so we are no longer going to distribute the patch.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition launches later this holiday season for Switch, PC, PS4, and XB1.

Thats fair. The translation was there only because it wasn't available in the west (the dlc and bonus quests that is). Now that they're being released here, they can call it a day.

And that's entrely fair in the realm of fan translations I say!

Thanks for everything, Vesperia team. Your patch brought me so much joy, it was truly excellent. I will buy Vesperia for Switch and PS4 later this year. Gotta support english Tales.

Funny thing is that I just finished Berseria and Zesteria, I was looking at the next Tales of game I should play and I was thinking of going for Vesperia using that patch. Then the rumours started popping up so I decided to wait and see if they'd have a PC or Switch version......and I'm glad I waited, I'm getting the Switch version day 1

I had the patch for 3 years now and that was way before CFW became global on the latest firmware. Distributing the patch wont stop, but fans will still buy the definitive edition regardless

i wouldnt be surprised if someone hosted the patch on gbatemps download section

Yeah but that's not really the point, it's not really a battle or cat and mouse game.
This team's aim is/was to get the games more popular in the west, and try to get them officially released in the west.
It worked :)
The game was already in the West it was just on the wrong console to gain the popularity it deserved. The xbox 360 was not a jrpg console not getting a PS3 port led to the fanslation patch
I don't think the patch will have any impact at all the demand for the game officially is on a higher scale than a patch requiring a ps3 on cfw

Which is cool, but I'm not going to buy a PS3 for a translation of a game that's coming to modern day systems. Guess those who have the system, and the game that somehow don't already know about the translation will be hurt.
Given Bamco's modern localization standards, the fan patch will probably be a better translation.

Now to hope the hype train doesn't die down for Tales of Abyss and Symphonia Chronicles HD :toot:
Hell yeah! I'm on-board for that!
