2 on PC, unless they patched 3 for better comparability and performance since launch. 1 is dated, 2 really got the formula right, 3 added a lot but was kinda bad at launch, 4 has a lot of facial customization but gets really boring fast.

when was the last time you played 3? it's gotten much better, it can run on my tablet which has a quad core atom and 4gb ram (load times are ~6 minutes but that's because i had every expansion pack installed)

See, I remember 3 being better at launch, and was ruined when they started pushing all the Sim Store content... Or was that always there? I could've sworn it wasn't.

But 2 is the best purely because Origin gave away the game with all the DLC for free a few years back lol.

You can do without the Sim Store for 3, I think. At least when I used to keep tabs on that game, there was a vibrant mod community and the game was really only a one-time purchase with a few extra expansions if you wanted 'em. I know Sims 4 is definitely microtransaction hell.

It's more the stuff it shows in-game that bothers me. Like it'll show stuff in the buy and build menus that you don't own, really irritates me. There's probably a mod to get rid of that though, I've never really looked too deeply into it.

Oh... Was that always a thing in 3? I don't seem to remember. But yeah, there's probably a mod to get rid of it.

I suppose on the topic of the thread, while I understand it was by no means the best game, I think I actually had the most fun with Sims Bustin' Out on the GameCube, and the accompanying GBA version. I guess it's just the version I grew up with, but I can always go back to it for some fun. Special shoutout to The Urbz on the DS as well, that one was just a banger of a game.

Yeah, to add to the topic, the My Sims games on DS and Wii (especially My Sims Agents) were pretty charming, at least to younger me. I wouldn't say go out and buy them, but if you have a flash card or a hacked Wii, y'know... acquire it.

OOFT, good shout in MySims. You can actually grab it on Origin for like £10, and it's 100% worth it for its fun building and just overall theme.
