Choices, am I right? Seems to be a (cancerous) symptom of the internet, to attack others for their preferences.
"WHAT?! You like VANILLA ice cream over STRAWBERRY?! Everyone KNOWS that strawberry is the best you DUMB BASTARD!!"

Especially in my case; I found mine at a Goodwill for $2.50. (No charger.) :P

Please give this guy a trophy because he understands.
Seriously though, you’re a very lucky person on finding one at that price! O-O
(I almost feel jealous...)

It's ENTIRELY because idiots kept calling the design bad and stuff just for how it looked without actually bothering to try holding it to see how much more comfortable it actually was. You'd see it everywhere, people bashing the design just because they thought the clamshell is the best and all that, so Nintendo listened to them and made a system that is neither comfortable to hold nor durable, just cheap.
Cheap? N2DS misses both the durability and excellent price of O2DS... I guess the original target audience was Americans, most of whom (according to the company that INVENTED region locking) could never have seen the official price of the small N3DS :P

So I guess I’m an idiot for just having an opinion. I understand that you like the 2DS’s design, and hate the 3DS’s, but I don’t think that is kinda fair to call people idiots just for having an opinion towards something. And yes, I own a 2DS, I have played with it. Also if you don’t like the clamshell design that doesn’t mean that others will have the same opinion as you.
Many people don't like the wobble of the clamshell design, the 2ds is much better.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I’m not sure I understand the issue. Both are available. It’s not as if Nintendo replaced one with the other.
They didn't update the 2ds with the new cpu and analog instead they created another XL version with less features than the one before it.

That's the issue.

The "idiots" was referring to the majority of the people who complained about the no clamshell, not everyone. Plenty did try it, but a LOT of people complaining were idiots in the sense that they didn't have adequate knowledge on it to complain about it.

Both are available, but if the O2DS is much more comfortable for someone, but they want to play N3DS exclusives, it really causes a inconvenience.

Aside from nitpicks, I like the 2DS. It’s cheap, and worth it for the library of games the 3DS has to offer, but honestly I would prefer the 3DS more. I just prefer a heavier, bulkier console.
Say hi to gravity on behalf of your heavier console:P 2DS survives most drops like they are nothing.

Cheap compared to the N3DS. It's by no means cheap compared to the O2DS and a price of about 125$ would be a lot more reasonable instead of 150+$. And I know what you mean, it's even more frail than N3DS, meaning it's not worth getting. And yes, the N2DS was made with Americans in mind (read that in an interview, can't remember where though, Kotaku maybe, not sure).

If that's the street price then it's indeed at least vaguely reasonable, but I thought the official one was still 150 compared to 160 for a N3DS

Don't know how it it in the US exactly to be honest. Here it's pretty expensive, at 159.99€ with N3DS XL being at 179.99€, so it makes no sense for it to be so expensive. It had so much potential...

Okay, that makes more sense.

And yes, while gravity does affect on a heavier console, it also depends how much you take care of it.

I love to play on 2DS. Way more "big hand" friendly. That's quite contradictory when you think about it. I'd like an old 2DS with N3DS CPU and bigger screens. But that would make it a "Home handheld device". The Old 2DS is already to big for a pocket.

The new cpu is pretty much useless anyway, the analog stick would of been nice though.

The new CPU and everything the the N2DS has isn't useless at all! You can stream without capture cards, play N3DS exclusives, don't have to enter the annoying extended memory mode for games that use it (which is a pain when you go between extended memory games and normal ones too much like me), etc.. The analog on the other hand is nice but also terrible, as the C-stick is just tiny and annoying to use to be honest...

I could care less for streaming because I don't stream, n3ds exclusives? you mean the 3 games that are just ports of better console titles? I can wait another 5 seconds for the memory mode.

Everything about the 2ds beats those features by a mile, I have a new 3ds (not the xl) and I probably won't ever use that again.

There are more than just 3 exclusives, especially if you look at Japan-only games. As for the streaming, being able to do it if you want or record gameplay is very useful. I've been wanting to do some videos with gameplay but can't with the O2DS. And yes, it may be just "5 seconds" or whatever, but if you switch between modes too often, it gets annoying and having to reconnect to the internet every time is also a pain, on top of having to go back on the home menu for at least a second after loading an EM game just to avoid framedrops (allows to buffer everything)...

These are all the new3ds exclusives 2 AAA games that are WiiU/Wii ports, and a bunch of indie games avaliable on other platforms that I've never even heard of.

Steaming I guess is nice if you steam but I don't so that adds nothing, I truly don't believe the new 3ds is a good value at all.

You are assuming that everyone has a WiiU, despite hardly anyone having one actually... Also, I like a lot of those indies, so it's something that interests me. And yes, streaming is situational. Finally, I agree, the N3DS and N2DS are too expensive for the improvements they offer.
