I can absolutely, positively, 100% guarantee you that your friend didn't get banned because he used .cia emulators.
Actually no you can't. We don't know at 100% all the reasons that trigger a ban. Some are more obvious than other but that's all you can tell.
Not using a cia that couldn't pass for an official one might be paranoia but it makes sense.

Hi guyz,

I wonder, i any onther emulator on the level of Pico Drive in terms of visual quality ?
Picodrive looks superb on my N3DS, fully scaled to 4:3 and pixels are clear. But every other emulator i tried is using some sort of bilinear filtering when stretched to 4:3 full screen.

A strange thing happened, they removed all the launchers whose filename begin with the words after “R” except retroarch.
I hope it is just a accident......

I'm having an issue,
I have my new 3DS (fw 11.6) hacked via Luma3DS, I installed every single CIA via FBI, copied the retroarch folder into the root directoy of the SD card.
Now every single core had its own launcher in the menu (is that supposed to happen?) So I unwrapped every single one of them.
Then I started retroarch through the main thingy (libretro), but all I'm getting after the 3DS logo is a black screen, and the system freezes.

How am I'm supposed to get into the retroarch menu or do I have to start it through the single cores? Because this doesn't work either.
what am I'm doing wrong?

you do not have to install all the emus. Only the ones you want to use. The menu-driver (xmb) leads to crash at this time, so you should select the rgui driver in the settings and if you want to control multiple cores through one application, you'll need to install the retroarch.cia. Of course, the individual cores for the use of retroarch.cia must already be installed. For a better organizing, you can create a folder in the home menu to store there the launchers and put it out of sight. That's how I do it.

How do I select the rgui driver when I can't even get into the settings?

And I did install the retroarch.cia, since I've said "every single one".
But this one is giving me a black screen at start as well.

How can't you not go into settings?
Pressing "Right" on the DPad once you enter the CIA should move you into the Settings tab.

delete the retroarch config file in the retroarch folder of the sd root, then start retroarch with a launcher of a core of your choice. It will start into the xmb menu. Then go to the second column and choose the first entry "driver". Goto menu driver and change the setting to rgui. Do not experimentate to long to avoid a crash. After that close retroarch by going back to the main menu, first column and choose the last option "quit retroarch". If you restart retroarch now, you will be taken to the rgui menu.

You sure that it installed? The ZX spectrum cores have the same titleid as Retroarch.cia and installing them will overwrite it.

So I install the entire cia folder of a new release and do not have the problem with a conflict between the cias. Everything is fine.

It seems that FBI tends to install Retroarch.cia after the new cores. The new cores still have the retroarch icon, banner and metadata but they seem to work. Hmm.

Hi, I accidentally pressed the D pad while navigating input settings in snes9x 2002 core which apparently makes it impossible to do anything since I had no way of setting it back to 3ds controller input (cool design there). So I renamed my config and restarted the core and now I have a garbage retroarch menu theme that's very difficult to navigate (tons of overlapping letters etc) and I can't get any of my old settings back. What do?

Hi all! It has been a long time since i installed retroarch, so i'd like to know which (versions) of cores are the best for snes, mega drive, mame and gameboy (if possible with color pallets for OG games on the color). Just install the last stables, or search for a specific nightly?
n3DS user.

Edit: which core(if any) supports fm sound for master system games?

for megadrive, use picodrive. genesis plus gx is pretty slow (although idk how it is on N3ds, you should probably specify that).

Is it XMB, rgui or GLUI? If it's XMB it'll have the layout of a PS3, rgui will have a simple menu with individual options and glui will have oversized options that make it near impossible to see the rest of the menu unless you continue scrolling down.

I guess it's glui based on your description. I mean it's a garbage layout and half the text overlaps and the options are all spread out? Also all my hotkeys are forgotten and resolution etc

Try to find the settings, then go to driver and change the menu driver entry to xmb and if you are on the 1.6.7 nightlies choose the rgui menu driver to prevent a chrash.

Ahhh yea it was xmb already. I changed to rgui and restarted and I can read things now, thanks.

Any ideas on what I did wrong or how to prevent that in the future? I'm launching from snes9x 2002 and it also seems like it didn't keep some of my settings before - I'd sometimes have to rebind fast forward and almost always have to rebind turbo enable.
