Hacking HELP! Installing luma cfw on old 3ds XL - gone wrong :(

Ok was following this guide https://3ds.guide/homebrew-launcher-(soundhax)

Keep in mind ive done cfw on old 3ds before on 11.0.0 using this guide with no issues.

But this time I seem to have gone wrong, I set up the sd card as described and with to sound app on 3ds and playing soundhax file it and instead of launching homebrew as before and guide states it started luma... ?
So i tried to exit by turning it off, I redownloaded all the files and set up SD again just in case I missed something, now going to the sound app and playing soundhax goes to launch quickly then says "exception error occurred" press key to shutdown.... keep try same result. the other thing is I cant boot 3ds without the SD card in now!!!!!!

Well, thats pretty normal that you cant boot without SD. You have to copy Luma to CTR-NAND in order to boot without SD.

Download this. Put it on your SD. Boot your 3DS. Launch Download Play. Go to Rosalina menu (L+down+select) -> miscellaneous options -> switch hb. title to the current app. -> leave and close download play. launch download play. Boom, you should be in hombrew launcher. But if you want menu icon, you have to download fbi.3dsx and install your HB launcher via it.

(Btw, just follow the guide)

That's not getting into Luma, that's opening your Luma settings. Follow the steps here to get the Homebrew Launcher. Or do what was said above, your choice.

you don't need to run them (if you already have CFW, which you have)

lol, thanks so much again. I fumbled through it no idea where I via'd off the path but managed to get everything on and working but the homebrew channel launcher icon is there just fails to load it, but I can launch through "download play" anyways so not bothered, if I get five mins ill take a look at it. thanks you SOLVED it!!
