512 MB is not enough for it to run decently, even less with an integrated graphics chip. 1 GB should suffice but don't expect it to run smoothly.

At first my PC had 1GB then I got more RAM modules and I got hyped by the fact they were exactly the type my PC uses, so then I connected them on the motherboard and since then it runs marvelous, even for a P4 2.8 GHz.

Oh BTW, don't install Windows Ultimate if you're not going to make use of its features, most of them are for users administration on a network.
If you're using it mainly for personal use, I'd recommend Windows Professional.

It should be noted that Windows 10 runs much better on low-RAM machines than Windows 7. Around the time of Windows 8, RAM usage was nearly cut in half compared to Windows 7 on low-RAM machines.

Windows 10 won't allow me to install. Not even 8.1.

Well last time i tried was a while back. I dont have any iso or install disk. I had a Win7 iso but it was corrupted
If I were you, here's what I would try:
  1. Download the Windows 7 SP1 ISO and install it.
  2. Activate Windows 7 SP1 using Daz's Loader.
  3. Download the Windows 10 ISO using Microsoft's official tool.
  4. Use the gatherosstate.exe method to install and activate Windows 10 while also bypassing the RAM system requirement.

7 supports XPDM drivers. 8 is where that stopped. Look at the edges of an explorer Window. They should be opaque since you can't run Aero Glass.
The graphics architecture and design of Intel® 910 and 915 Express Chipset Families with the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 or Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (Intel® GMA 900) graphics engine was finalized before Microsoft released the WDDM specifications. The [hardware limitations in the Intel® GMA 900 architecture constrained graphics performance and memory capabilities when attempting to run WDDM on Windows Vista*.

Okay, Windows XP still wont work. Windows 2000 Works fine. Ive tried updating the drivers through the controls pannel, and it still wont work (I temporarily hooked up a Ethernet). The thing is, Windows 2000 (after installing the Realtek drivers) show the Realtek logo on an application that installs the drivers. (Although it states that the driver isn't sign but it still works). Windows XP never does this. I cant try any other Windows version because
1.) No install disk
2.) No product Key.
I would try Lubuntu, however I don't have Internet so I cant set up wine (I probably can use my VM on my moms PC to download the debs)

I'd hate to bumb this, but I found the problem. I got the zip drivers and I Extracted it. I found out there are only drivers for:
  • Windows XP SP1
  • Windows XP SP2
  • Windows 2000 SP4
  • Windows 2003 Sever
So means there aren't any drivers for XP SP3. Thanks for all the help. I had to get the XP SP2

it is a Realtek AC97 chipset? from that pentium model I think it is arround the same era as the duron 1000 I restored to working condition yesterday mine is a gigabyte 7VT600. Did you check is the onboard audio is enabled on the bios? I had to do the inverse as you whit the realtek my mother board I has since it cause conflict whit my soundblaste live 5.1 on windows 98

I've had a Medion computer running Windows 8.1 (before the graphic card was litterally broken because of multiple breakdowns.

It had a Pentium 4 at 320 MHz (not even joking) with 512 Mb of RAM. I did the "setup" from the sources folder trick. And the results is well it worked, not as smooth as it could, but it worked.
Now I have a Acer Aspire X1430 and will have a Asus laptop in the uncoming days.

At least MS did a fantastic job on Windows 10, draining less RAM than the older versions, and so drastically.

Can you even be surprised? Microsoft has only released one update to Windows XP in three years and it was to patch an absolutely devastating bug.

Still, it was a big hole on the NT Kernel, that any hacker could use, and that so from Win 2000 (or XP) to Win 7 or 8.
