Don't worry.
If you update with Zelda I can be 100% sure it won't be 3.0.1
That is, of course, if you are planning on just putting the cartridge and not actually downloading any updates.
If that is, then yeah, you will get 3.0.1

But i should update the game, right? surely they patched lot of things since launch (new thread:"should i update to play zelda...")

Yeah I didn't read the last part of your post.
I think BotW was one of those games with an update on release date.
Basically, if you don't have the release date update, the game won't boot.
So yeah, you will have to get online to update, and that would require updating the firmware first, sadly :/

That happened to me for the Wii U version.
We needed the release date patch in order to play the game.

Although I am not sure if the same thing applies to the Switch version.

This is true on Wii U only. On Switch you can play without updating it. The latest update - the current available - adds the first DLC (Master Trial) but to play with it you have to buy it first

I udpated Wii U to 5.5.2 and I could load Mocha CFW.
I updated 3DS to 11.5.0 and I could load LumaCFW.
I updated PS3 to 4.81 and I could load CFW Rebug with downgrade with E3 Flasher.

Well, I updated to my Nintendo Switch and I will play to online (Splatoon2, arms etc) until the exploit for my version be released. The no-update maybe is more useful for people that dont have games and want the exploit for play it free without use money.

I will not update, I will hack my 2.1.0 Switch, I feel there are so many other games to play so there's really no need to hack it!
Emulators, PubG (I can't play this with my pc I think), Steam Games, Flash Games, EpicMafia, League of Legends, there is so much to play, not worth updating guys!


I still need to hack WIi U also

oh, are you saying that games will stick to fw you are on ?
like the vita's case ?
where 3.60+ games will not work.

i did read that this might be happening with the switch hax .

Edit: sorry you meant the current released games, true not many will work.
i believe alot of the peeps here will be forced to update if they are eager to play MarioOdyssey.

Yes, you must use E3 Flasher and your PS3 must be downgradeable (not all are).

I didn't update Zelda either to take advantage of the "unlimited arrows" bug...although I've yet to see it work. I'm also waiting to update for Oddessy. I think the one game that could get me to update without thinking is Super Mario Maker but FW 3.0.1+ probably has a better chance of getting hacked than SMM coming to the Switch in the next 12 months.

High probably that it will be 3.0.1: it is a game that will sell a lot an Nintendo could want to force people to update to a "safe" firmware
