I'd say a good bet is the R4 SDHC Dual Core it's cheap (9 USD), it works, it's available, and it's one of the two cards next in line to be supported by ntrboot.

Nah, get an r4i gold 3ds rts. It has wood r4, the best flashcart firmware, as well as being compatible with ntrboothax as a bonus.

Lol it made me laugh that the R4i Gold RTS was up to $22.99 yesterday morning when they were in stock and now it's on back order the price is back down to $17.99.

+1 on the R4 Gold RTS. Easy to use, works out of the box on my 2ds xl, and it's cheap ($18 when I got it a couple of weeks ago).

Easiest flashcart I have ever used. It's the best over all that I have seen/used. It has solid build quality, it has complete housing. I would say stay away from the dstwo just cause they are expensive, they drain battery even while your ds is in sleep due to the extra CPU in the cart it's self, and the front of the cart is only covered by a sticker, leaving the internals of the cart prone to damage if you are really careless with your cartridges. The extra CPU can do cool stuff on the dstwo, like on the fly cheat codes or toggle slow down, but the extra CPU does really drain battery.

Edit: the r4i 3ds rts does have an issue fitting in some n3ds's, but you just have to wiggle with it for a bit
