sram saves are the saves that games make themselves, and not the ones that you make when you exit a game ? So, the saves that you make when you exit a game will work for all games, now ?Watch the videoBut, in brevity, Standard Versions generally make automatic sram Saves on your Mini, whether you want them to or not! No-Save Versions block this from happening! You can have 20-50 Mb+, easy of BS Sram Saves, clogging up your system. You may reflash over and over. Games you no longer have, will still have traces, in the way of these sram saves. And, they can vary from 8 Kb to 3 Mb, each. The video also shows how to micro-manage saves in general, to prevent overclogging of the system, which can lead to C8 errors. So, if there is a particular Core you want to use, and do not care about Saves for it, period...Then, go with the No-Save Variant for it.

sorry if I'm a bother, but this is really confusing. Sram saves are the automatic saves that games make themselves ? They're different than the saves you make when you exit a game ?No, some systems still have issues with ability to make Saves when you exit a game. But, N64 Games couldn't properly do sram saves, due to how RetroArch and glupen64, were configured. I modified both so that you can now play games, like Pilotwings 64, etc, where you previously couldn't. And, now "continue" your game via sram saves. But, I recommend to back-up these sram saves, just in case you get super invested in a particular game, like Zelda! You CAN make saves exiting N64. But, they are not very reliable. I made some and sometimes they load, sometimes they do not. But, sram saves worked every time. For the most part, most systems Save fine. I may focus on a few others that do not, and see what I can do with them...once everything is said and done.

Do the no save versions keep you from being to make saves of any kind ?
Cool. Thank for the clarification. So, the standard versions will automatically make sram saves....even if you don't save in the game and only when you exit the game ?Standard Version (If Save Ability works, will let you make Saves as you exit Games (Manual Saves). But, they also automatically create sram saves (Automatic).
No-Save Versions BLOCK all saves, whether manual or automatic. So, if you run a Core, and you do not want ANY saves for it, then use No-Save Version.
Cool. Thank for the clarification.
I'd like one that just blocks sram saves....is that possible ?
Interesting situation. Last night was the first time of playing the nes classic in about a month. I don't know why I thought this, but it struck me that after sitting for so long, it might not work. Checked it out. It works. Since it had been so long, I had forgotten what games I had. I tried one of the Marvel Vs. Capcom game to see if I had the CPS2 core...and I do. I played the game for a moment, then exited then went to play Contra.
When I got to the first boss, the game froze then a little window popped up, telling me about a C7 (I think) error. I clicked okay, and the mini seemed to work fine after that.
From what I've been able to find, a C7 error has to do with a messed up rom or something, right ? I have 30 or less games per folder and cores to play NES, arcade, Genesis, Atari, Game Gear, Turbo Grafix, and Gameboy/Gameboy Advance.
Any ideas ?
Just trying to get some N64 games going here..what do I need to change the argument line to if Im using the glupen64.hmod????
Thanks

what is a royal shader ? Also, what is a no intro rom ? For Contra, does that mean you don't get the logo with the two guys that slides in from the right ? Would it be wrong to ask where to get a no intro Contra NES rom from....because I can't find one.The royal shader is incompatible with the Mini.
Replace the Contra Rom. It seems to be a bad one. Go No Intro.

I just need the no intro Contra nes rom. But every place I've seen, the download is the entire 700 some odd games.No-Intro is a release group. The name is not to be taken literally. There are several groups that dump and/or organize Rom/ISO Collections. There is a Good-Set, a No-Intro, Tosec for other systems, and so on. Good-Sets work great in many environments. But, due to the nature of how things fare on the Mini-NES, No-Intro tends to be more reliable. I have covered this in my videos. But, an example would be Good-Set NES Fester's Quest. It runs fantastic on my Android, my PC, PSP, and so on. But, on the Mini NES, it crashes when you go into the 3d mode. No-Intro version doesn't.

I have about 150 or so NES games and Contra is the only one that I've had problems with so far....so, we'll see...I've found what I think is a complete no intro set of roms. So if I ever have any problems with other games, I'll be able to switch them out.Contra isn't the ONLY game you will have issues with. Several will give you issues. It won't hurt to have that archive to fall back on, in such cases.
