Aaand it works on my (rooted) device, just as expected! Time to have fun with the four free levels! The battery drain is insane tho, my 1,5A charger simply has no chance (which is a shame since it's got Qualcomm QuickCharge or something).

...also, Mario's mouth looks a bit awkwardly twisted on that Twitter artwork.

Okay how did you manage to get it to work? Magisk?
I'm on chainfire's "standard" superSU. I have Xposed and Rootcloak which worked for Miitomo but doesn't work any longer there as well as it seems. What do I have to do?

I'm on xposed and superSU, Miitomo worked fine for me. Can't say about SMR, got screwed.

In fact I haven't had ANY apps not work because of root. Is that an issue with people?

Yep, Magisk and a custom kernel. https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
If you need further help, feel free to PM me! (I have an Xperia, but I'll try to help as much as I can with whatever phone you have.)

Fire emblem heroes was nice let's see how this is
If it didn't delete your save after a few plays, you should be good to go with SMR.
Here's an app to check if you pass SafetyNet: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scottyab.safetynet.sample
Getting a red X doesn't necessarily mean you won't be able to play.

Had to use magisk, xposed didn't work on marshmallow at the time. I just haven't felt the need to do anything about it since everything is still working just fine.
Can't say anything about Xposed, I've been running Android N since a while, so no Xposed for me. If you run the app I linked above you can find out if you'll be able to play. (Why don't you download an apk of SMR?)
