I can't play it much also, but because of not enough time.
What can I tell you, just get away from internet and play it.
How do you get lost? What are your problems exactly?

....Just play. Live, die, make an Apple Pie. Eventually, you'll learn. I think I'm over 100+ hours in and I still haven't learned everything. If you get bored, play with the physics of catapulting or setting traps for enemies. Hell, sabotage camps by stealing the good items and leaving shitty items.

Or, be like the guy who found out about Octorocks and rusted items. Maybe there's an enemy who revitalizes your weapons.......you could solve the 'durability curse.'

It's been a while since I started the game , but if you haven't already you will find a map very soon. Once you have the map , you can easily set markers on it , to either mark places you've searched, or places of interest. There are many ways to achieve the same goal, for example , surviving on top of a cold hill.. either clothes or food or other ways to keep you warm.

What's wrong with getting lost? That initial plateau (before the glider thing) isn't small in itself, and following the map isn't always easy. I mean...for that last shrine I detoured pretty much THE WHOLE PLATEAU because I was at the bottom of the cliff and needed to be on top*. The thing is: while wandering around, I fought enemies, grabbed loot, died in some pretty dumb ways (what do you mean I can't swim in that nearly frozen river? <ten minutes later> Oh, so I can't accidentally skinny dip in it either?) and collected probably ten thousand ingredients for vomit-inducing foods. Sure, those wastelands aren't as filled with objectives, side missions or useless collectibles as other titles, but IMHO it's not boring.

I haven't played as much as I'd want to myself either, but with work, karate, a dog addicted to walks, reading, rocksmith and sleeping, my game time is pretty limited as well (yes, rocksmith > zelda for me). It's okay: it's not like I'm in a rush to finish the game.

Oh, but one rather spoiler-y thingy for when you get that glider:
when that old fart says that you need to go through duelling peaks to reach koroki...koricho...that village, it means you need to go through. I repeat: go through that tunnel splitting the mountain. I attempted to go in a straight line and all I got was an hour of cliff hugging, crossing the world's worst voice acted mountain goat and drowning because I misjudged Link's swimming stamina by 5 centimeters. In other words: this game absolutely deserves game of the year! :P

*on hindsight, transporting to that third shrine would've been better as a starting point, but because it looked like a detour on the map I didn't bother with it until I was pretty much on the doorstep. :P

How do you get that information? :wtf:

Well speaking from someone who kinda is disappointed for what they got. I can play it and i wanna beat it at least but is a tedious process that i suppose it isn't enough to hold my attention. Still trying to get the master sword and i have to find some zap fish or electric fish or whatever, so yeah i'm stuck on that until i check EVERY BODY OF WATER IN THE MOST OPEN-EST WORLD ZELDA GAME EVER! O_O

So is either do that or get distracted from all the other stuff you can do of almost minor to no importance. Probably would been better classified as JRPG than umm.... what genre of game is this again? Adventure, action? What is dark souls classified as?

@Sonic Angel Knight

You can find Zapfish in the lake on your way through the Zora Domain-trail. It's a to the left of the trail, by a waterfall. You don't need "Zapfish" to get the MS. I think you need 40-48 shrines' orbs, or if you defeated all the beasts (+4 hearts), six more hearts, for a total of 13 hearts.

Personally, I'm completing all the shrines (105 currently), side quests (all types), and finding as many Korok Seeds as I feel like (110 currently) or all, if I get bored enough. I'm also trying to see if there are any hidden weapons from un-rusting (Octorocks on Death Mountain suck the rust off weapons and spit out their un-rusted counterpart) weird-location rusted items. Also trying to see if certain enemies return your weapons' dexterity.

In a fun note, I found a glitch in the Yiga Hideout to re-enter, but I can't fully test it because of the auto-saves and one save slot.

You can find that info in "Daily Log"

Wii u:
  1. From the Daily Log screen, tap on an entry from the daily/monthly log to see the total amount of time played and the number of uses for that software title.

Switch:

  1. After linking your Nintendo Switch console to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls application, start the app on your smart device.
  2. On the app’s main menu, choose which play activity history you would like to view:
    • Time Played - View the amount of daily play time on the Nintendo Switch console.
    • Monthly Summary - View a monthly summary of play activity on the Nintendo Switch console.

Oh that's right! I forgot about the app for this system O_O
I need to look into this app. I'm not used to this kind of thing. I haven't even gotten used to the remote play app for ps4

I think a lot of the reason they added an open world as they did is for people to get immersed in it so if you wander forever and you are still happy with the game then it''s quite alright
