Before I get started, yes I know that we COULD just simply be careful when pulling the Switch out of the dock but doing that shouldn't feel like disarming a bomb to prevent screen scratches. I decided to take matters into my own hands. For those of you unaware, the Dock has 4 raised portions on the inside to guide (or hold, or scratch) the Switch

. These protrusions are uncomfortably close to the screen and can accidentally rub the screen creating scratches given time and multiple removals and insertions (giggity). With a easy modification we can protect against scratches.

You'll need a couple things.

A ruler or something to measure with.

A razor, box cutter, or scissors.

Double sided tape (The paper thin kind, not mounting tape. ) that's 6 or 7mm wide.

One of the foam bags that came in the Switch.

Now cut 2 or 4 pieces (I only used 2) of tape 68mm in length. Apply it to the foam using vigorous pressure to ensure it's adhered properly. Cut around it. Once you're done peel the other side of the tape and begin applying it to the protrusions in the dock. The next part is tricky. The space in the dock is limited. I have baby hands so for me it was simple. For those of you with sausage fingers or giant viking hands, it might be trickier for you but I believe in you. Apply the strips and again, use a hearty amount of pressure to ensure it adheres properly. Give it a few slow rubs. And that's it.

End Result:

Really guy. The soft foam is worse than the hard plastic? C'mon you're being ridiculous.
Still should have a screen protector.. The foam will attract dust and particles and hold on to some.

That type of foam makes one hell of a static cling which will cause dirt and shit to stick to it and then scratch up the screen worse. Not being ridiculous just using some actual logic

... Guy

I've been using the foam bag from the 3ds packaging as a makeshift case for years and it's never attracted "dirt and shit" or even dust, and every thing in my house gets crazy dusty.

"Please do not report posts simply because you disagree with them or that you find them offensive."

I'd probably prefer a cloth or something as well, and though that type of foam isn't the worst idea, it's far from ideal. But hey, it's something I guess.
