Here is a plugin that me and @Fishguy6564 have made. It'll show a speedometer at the bottom right corner, you can choose between km/h or mph. Hope you like it! :)

How to use:

1. Install NTR CFW (you can use BootNTR Selector).
2. Download the zip included with this post.
3. Extract one of the plg files (km/h or mph) to SD:/plugin/0004000000030X00 (Replace X with 6->JPN, 7->EUR,8->USA).
4. Launch NTR CFW and then Mario Kart 7, you should see the speedometer when a race starts.

Without trying this yet, I'm curious how the numbers work. Is this just a speed value that the game stores that you're printing, or is there some kind of math going on? Is it actually an established measurement like mph or km/h according to the game? Are you converting the values, or just printing a different unit after the number?

I think you should add a version with Miles per hour, because a lot of people uses it instead of kilometers per hour.
I'm not one, but some people would appreciate :P

Interestingly enough, there is an actual float in the memory that stores the km/h, this plugin just prints it.

I forgot to say it, but the download includes both versions :P

Oh, good then! Don't forget to edit your post!

@PabloMK7 Trying this now, it looks great, but seems like it might not have been tested with 3D enabled? Currently, it's only being displayed on the left framebuffer. With 3D enabled, it has that awkward simultaneous on-off look because the right eye isn't seeing it at all. Otherwise, a lot of fun.

Does this work with all the versions of mk7?
Like the original cart without the 1.1 update preinstalled?

Fixing that right now.

EDIT: Fixed.

very cool!

i guess it is not a coincidence that the top speed is 99km/h?
does the game limit us to that? (in 150cc?)
what is the speed limit for 50 and 100cc?

The top speed isn't 99km/h :P It depends in the kart, coins, mode, etc
