To introduce you the situation:
I have a Japanese O3DSXL;
My friend has an European N3DSXL.
Both have a CFW.
Both are in 11.3 firmware

We tried to play online on "zelda triforce heroes", as I expected, we couldn't play together because I have a Japanese copy of the game, and he has an European one. (btw is this reason correct?)
So, i tried to install the same game, but the European version of it, and it didn't work either, maybe because I'm playing an European game on a Japanese 3DS (is this also correct?).
So, is there any solutions?

I dunno, sounds weird, shouldn't online mode work regardless of regions? I can play japanese players with smash bros, so why would this be any different? Are you sure is online and not local?

I believe it is game that controls that.
Maybe they simply limited the regions to the CIA/Game region you have installed?
Try installing the same CIA if you didnt try that yet

If is the game that controls which regions to connect to, then just like region free the system to play any game, can it be done by some rom hacking? :P

Okay, online play is region locked too on 3ds (hehe japanese you ra... elitist).
The online region depends of the game's region. Game itself being limited by console's region (if no CFW).

Then you have to accept other region EULA. Your console can accept her own region EULA natively.
For the other region you need a special .cia.

All you need is here. It's not the first thread about it.

Edit: you need to use the same game's region.

I also think so

We installed the game via Freeshop, should we try to download a .cia from the internet?
Freeshop is fine.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Example: I played Metroid Prime FF(USA) on my EU 3ds. I had to accept US Eula (which I couldn't with my 3ds) so I builded & used that .cia to modify EULA parameters. Then I could play online.

I believe i misexplained something. Region online depend of your game's region, but your ability to play with other players from other region depend how the game decide its online politic (same region only or all together).

So if you doesn't know what is the politic, just go for the same game's region with your friend.

I've just did it again on 11.3 to test. It work as long as you have CFW (which you have).
