Hacking Help Needed for Returning 3DS User

Hey all! I remembered using my 3DS back in December 2014 when the Gateway 3DS 9.2.0 QR code hack just came out, allowing me to play Pokemon ORAS on my Gateway 3DS. Now, I remembered I was able to downgrade my SysNAND to 4.5.0 (which was the only hackable version a long time ago), with my EmuNAND being at the newest version available at that time. Now, I have returned back to my 3DS (for Pokemon Sun and Moon!) and there are a lot of new terms I'm seeing, such as CFWs and who knows what. I'm pretty confused, can anyone fill me in on what I should be doing? If all I want to do is to play Pokemon Sun and Moon (and other games), can I just update my EmuNAND as usual from system options and play ROMs from the Gateway card (after patching the online ID so I don't get banned or something)? Do I need to bother about the new updates like the arm9loaderhax (I have no idea what it is.) Thank you guys so so much!

Something called arm9loaderhax (perm cfw) has arrived along with better, open source cfw (luma3ds). It's recommended to stop using gateway and update to those.

Ooh thank you! So you mean that I do not have to use my Gateway cart anymore? What about my current existing EmuNAND and CIA files and everything? (Sorry for being such a newbie haha)
