Hello all. I wish you all a great Thanksgiving. I'd be really grateful if you guys could help me out. My friend has autoboot reinand set up on his new 3ds. However, he injected a file into sysnand after attempting to unban himself and thinks he's bricked. I tried to modify the boot.cfg to autoboot into the homebrew launcher, as he is looking forward to setting up luma3ds cfw. He would like some assistance. Here's the link to a video he posted showing his error, which is just a black screen.

If you guys could please help, let me know, as I would greatly appreciate it! Please! :-) And thank you!

yeah he is bricked, I assume he was using menuhax and injected a modified file to sysnand......that will result in a brick, those methods are for a9lh only

basically he will need a nand backup and a hard mod to unbrick

Its a brick. Normally if someone mentions inject file to sysnand they are refering to a9lh only. If you don't have it inject to emunand (unless the guide says sysnand only)

yeah unfortunately I think many people just assume everyone is already on a9lh sysnand so many guides just forgo the warnings and just say "inject X to sysnand in decrypt9"....which I can only assume is the cause of everyone bricking trying to unban themselves

is there any way for a recovery for him? I really would hate to leave him empty handed.
if he has a nand backup he can unbrick via hardmod

thanks guys. I appreciate the verification. This is awful. I hope he can fix it with a hardmod. Do you guys have any links for him? he is aware of the hardmod but actually afraid to do it and mess it up.

Yes he does have a nand back up.

It looks like your friend has a N3DS XL, installing a hardmod is a bit tricky for this system. He might be able to remove all screws with a Philips #000 but the proper screw driver to remove the motherboard is a JIS #000
Here's an iFix disassembly tutorial on the N3DS XL

https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nintendo+3DS+XL+2015+Teardown/36346

Here's the pinout for the hardmod

Installing a hardmod on this unit is not easy (especially if this is his first time). Might want to take it to someone who does downgrades.

PS: Oh, I forgot to add, he will also need a card reader that is compatible with the hardmod! More on it here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-noob-friendly-nand-dumping-2ds-3ds-3ds-xl-n3ds-n3ds-xl.414498/

Oh boy. This seems very daunting...Shoot. Is there any way to back up his saves and games to another 3ds?

How much does it cost?

Hey gamesquest1. TokyoGhoul58 is interested to see what prices and options are available for him and how much it would cost for the service? I understand you are an active modder in the UK and was wondering if you would be willing to provide him with information. Thanks.
