Hacking A9LH help?

I was following this-

-to install A9LH, but, when I got to step 6 in Section III, I could not update my system because it sends me to the HBL.

I have tried loading Luma3DS by changing the Boot.3dsx file, and by placing Luma3DS's files in the 3ds folder to boot through the HBL, but both ways send me to a black screen.
I have also tried turning on my 3DS without the SD card in, but it will only turn on the power light for second or two.

Can someone help me with this, please?

You shouldn't be booting to Luma through the HBL anymore. If you're at that section then you've already installed a9lh and Luma will load on boot.

Edit: in fact, just remove boot.3dsx and the 3ds folder from your SD card (you can back them up elsewhere if you want) so they stop giving you trouble. Once you have the HBL.cia installed and you're all updated then put them back if you want to be able to use homebrew.

Were you using menuhax? If so, that would explain why it won't boot, because luma loads, then loads the home menu, which then loads your boot.3dsx. If I were you, I would make sure I had a luma arm9loaderhax.bin on your sd card's root, and then use whatever key you chose to bypass menuhax (press the power button, wait about a quarter second, and then press the bypass to avoid triggering luma's payload launcher thing) and see if that boots.

Yes, I did have menuhax.
I cannot remember what button I set it to though.

I renamed boot.3dsx and booted the console, but now it is just stuck with a white screen (bottom) and that screen with various colors (top)

I tried again, and it loaded past that after restarting, but it is now stuck on a red screen.
Also, I do have the A9LH bin at the root of my SD card.

What is causing this?

Make sure you don't completely get rid of it just yet, but being able to use the bypass should allow you to boot to the home menu, where you can disable it properly. Also, can you try making sure the unit is off, holding select, and then pressing power?

That sends me to the Luma3DS settings menu.
I will try using that menuhax manager.

Perfect, that means its just menuhax screwing things up at this point.

I loaded menuhax manager, and it said "Failed to load the config" and "An error occured".

Edit: I looked that error up, and...menuhax manager needs to access the internet?
What do I do?

Try deleting the 00098 folder (something like this) that the guide tells you. I think this gets rid of menuhax.

I did that.
I have three folders though. Should I done it for all of them?

Put back the plain boot.3dsx (not Luma's) so that it boots to the homebrew launcher. Then try exiting to the home menu without restart (Start then whatever button it says for not restating). That'll at least let you use your console until you can get internet for using menuhax manager to uninstall menuhax (weird that it needs internet).
