Hiya,
Recently, I tried playing "F-Zero Climax" on my 3DS. It worked pretty well and also saved like it should. At least, that's what I thought.
I created a save file, closed the software and reopened it. The file was still there. After that, I completed a Grandprix, closed the software and -boom- the file was gone.
I tried using injections made by other people, I tried the SRAM patcher, but nothing worked.
Is there anyone out there who knows how to fix this?

Certain games don't work well on GBA VC, even if they in theory are clean. For example, you can't start Need for Speed Most Wanted because it fails to create a save properly, and so it redirects you to the main screen. Other example is GT Advance 3 which crashes into a EEPROM ERROR screen if you try to save.

Maybe is related with the tools you're using to inject?

I'm just using the standard tools everyone else uses.
- 3DS GBA Footer Generator v0.2 MOD
- 3DS Simple GBA Converter v1.3 by RikuKH3
I haven't heard of any other available options.

Thanks for suggesting the Ultimate GBA VC Injector.
I tried using that program and the only difference was that the save file died after completing the second Grandprix on the second time loading the game. That makes the error even more weird.

Maybe is related to the VC base those programs are using. Correct me if i'm wrong, but those VC injections uses original VC games as a base, like TurboGrafx VC. That may explain some odd behaviors.

I always thought, that these programs would just create the CIA with the footer data, but if they really use original VC games as a base, wouldn't it be piracy to download those tools?

Well, TurboGrafx VC can't handle games that are more heavier than original VC games. Looking up more about the VC, it seems that is like you're saying about the footer data.

Maybe the tools are messing up with the save type or the VC itself is unable to save properly. I'm still figuring out how can i fix save issues with some games (like the ones i mentioned ealier).

Oh wow. I just discovered the reason why F-Zero Climax' save files die. The 3DS isn't able to properly save 128k GBA save files. And guess how big the F-Zero save files are...
I didn't took this into consideration because I only read about Pokémon and Super Mario Advance 4 having 128k save files.

That means the new question is: Does anyone know how to force F-Zero Climax into saving to 64k files instead?
Also, does anyone know what is stored in the last 64k of the save file?

You could try asking here as well.
