>As of March 24, 2016, the browser-version-check requires that the installed Old3DS/New3DS browser be on >=10.7.0-32.

If that is your problem you can read how to bypass it here:

I didn't get an error message when it didn't work when I tried it on a friends o3DS however so your problem might be something completely different.

Are you trying to use BrowserHax in emuNAND? I found that with MenuHax enabled, loading BrowserHax in emuNAND will close the browser 80% of the time and spit out 'An error has occurred'. The 20% that it does work, the system will freeze while trying to reload the Home Menu.

The other possibility is that you're using a public WiFi that blocks access to mtheall.com, since you said it's a connection error you keep getting.

It happens to me as well, my O3DS XL is on 9.2.0 and browser version is 1.7567 and everytime I scan the code it shows communication error after a while, and I do have all the files required in the root of my SD card. The page also wont load and if let too much time it will start opening up pop-up sites. What is it that is missing? Also using private internet connection.

blauncher didn't work on my O3DS and I'm having the same problem as OP. Weird thing is, I was using Browserhax fine just some minutes ago. I can't seem to connect to the website on my computer too.
