I have the same problem using a DSTwo on a Japanese DSi. There may not be a solution.

I also spent forever trying to get my modded Japanese Wii to play Star Fox in English, and eventually failed! :(

DSi let you change the console language? some game read by the console language (sonic for example, ou can get the japanese game to have nice dub and play in english XD)
else you will need a homebrew to load the game in the desired language :x

use gecko loader or another, you can choose the language you want the game to boot...
(if it's the ST adventures GC, I have the japanese disc and my englsh wii played it in english XD I tried to boot in japanese for curiosity but don't worked , but was a long time XD)

oooor hack the game(DS or wii/gc ) and swap the language folder/files :v /this just came me now lol/

A DS will let you choose the language, but a DSi will not. Or at least a Japanese one won't.

I tried Gecko, but it didn't work. :(

Japanese DSi (and 3DS) went so far as to remove the language setting menu itself. Leaving awkward blank space where it would be.
Certain games that detect the system's mode, will load and display ONLY Japanese text.

Expect these games to be affected in some way:
Feel the Magic XY XX
Lost in Blue 2
Sonic Colors
Sonic Rush
Sonic Rush Adventure
The Rub Rabbits
True Swing Golf
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2008
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2009
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2010
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2011
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Spirit Caller

I just checked this out in desmume, by the way.

EURO Megaman ZX and Megaman ZX Advent both use Japanese.
USA doesn't!

Edit: Tried the other game.
ohh thank you! I thought I was using the USA version :wtf::wtf: it turns out it was a EUR version lol my bad :P I always get confused with the "E" on roms, I always thought of it as "English" hahahahah:rofl2::rofl2: thank you again !:):)

On R4is you can force the language that games use when loading.
Press Y while hovering over a game, then go to settings, then the features page, and change the language from default to whatever language you want the game to load in.

I know the problem has already been solved, but I think this may help other people who stumble across this thread.

It's cool. Often extra languages make EUR games a better choice on the DS, but yeah this is one situation it doesn't.
