I just purchased and downloaded Bloons td 4 from the 3ds eshop (it's a dsi ware) and when I try to start it, it just goes to the black "An error has occured. Hold the POWER Button...etc." screen. This is an o3ds on 9.2 with the game installed on rxtools 10.5 emunand. I've tried deleting and reinstalling, and other previously installed dsi ware works fine. Any suggestions?

Well, I suppose that might be my only option. That or call Ninty to see if they can get it to work or at least refund it. I just don't understand why the legally paid for version won't work. Thanks.

. . .call them and tell them about your emunand . . . are you asking to have your nnid banned
the problem is just as i said dsiware only plays from sysnand nintendo never made or wanted emunand so at best they would ignore you . . . your only options to play the game is to pirate a copy or create your own cia from the game currently on your emunand and install said cia to sysnand . . . of course you can allways leave cfw behind and update if you truly want to pay for games

Because DSiWare is DSiWare. Just because it's legally owned doesn't mean it'll magically load from emuNAND correctly.

Ok, yeah, had to run to the store and it dawned on me on the way there that I was being stupid. I assume the reason the other dsi games work is because they were installed before downgrading from 10.3? I'll look into the legit cia installation when I get a chance.

Wait, your other DSiWare games work? Are your NANDs linked or something?

Yeah, I left them linked. In fact, (can't remember for sure cause it was back when 9.2 was first hacked) I think that was part of the reason I never unlinked my 3dsxl back in the day, so when I downgraded my kids' from 10.3 I set them up the same. Once you update the emunand there's little risk of accidental sysnand updating, so I never bothered with separating them.

. . . the only other thing i can think of is you (or someone) messed with the twl-firm (used by ds mode and dsi mode)

edit: but you said your other dsiware work (if truly "dsiware") that would make no sense

i think he is confusing a 3d-less 3dsware title (ex witch and hero) for a dsiware

It's listed as dsiware in the data management settings with four swords etc (four swords is working). I remember I had to do a trick with copying four swords to the sd card and back to get it to work, but that was going from sysnand to emunand, not the other way around. Anyway, I think I need to figure out a way to install it on sysnand, and then, since I'm linked, I could probably get it to work in emunand.

thats just it i also dont think you are still linked or else the console would not care if you install it to sysnand or emunand

furthermore i think the trick you speak of was installing the game to sysnand

i know it sounds rude of me (directly contradicting you) . . . sorry . . . but this makes no sense otherwise

That's what I thought too, hence the reason for this thread:P. TWL should be fine or the other dsi games wouldn't work. I'm starting to think it's like the gba titles - when linked you install them on sysnand first then you can also install them in emunand. Anyway, it's not a huge deal, my son was just burning some eshop points he had from christmas.

oh lol . . . i see now you have the terms linked and unlinked swapped that just takes me back here
dsiware only pays from sysnand you need to download (or generate) a cia of the game and install it to sysnand

No, they are linked. I never formatted sysnand. Also, my presents re-wrap themselves whenever I don't use auto-boot. I realize most people unlink since all the tutorials have you do that, so there's not much support for linked-nand specific oddities, which this seems to be.

well we covered unlinked nands and twl-firm (so you did not re-allow old ds mode flashcards . . . ?) so all i have left is to suggest you delete it and re-download it from the eshop and see if that helps ( . . . probably wont though)

When you created the emuNAND, all DsiWare you had on sysNAND landed in the emuNAND as well.

DsiWare loads through a convoluted scheme - "ok, I load dis gaem nao, reboot, look at sysnand, load gaem". Since your emuNAND had the same games as sysNAND, it had no trouble loading them.
But this game has only been installed into emuNAND, so it goes the same "yes, yes, load gaem, reboot... Owait, gaem iZ missing!" because it can't "see" the game in emuNAND when it loads TWL.

TLDR: install the game to sysNAND either by making a CIA from your emuNAND install or via other more shady means.

AFAIK, the A9LH circumvents this, but if you didn't unlink your NANDs, which is a convenient thing, I can't imagine you'd go for the Sisyphean effort that prepping for A9LH is.
so all i have left is to suggest you delete it and re-download it from the eshop and see if that helps ( . . . probably wont though)
OP says he did that already before even asking for help. It's clearly a "DsiWare/GBA VC have to be in both NANDs" thing.
