So my 3ds has a very odd problem. The 3ds switch was working just fine before formatting the system (green 3d light showed and the slider actually worked with the 3d). but after formatting, 3d refuses to work at all. Can't even get past the 3d check screen.. This 3ds has never been used for cfw and is on fw 3.0.0-4U. Is there a fix for this? I have already made sure all the connections were reseated properly and that the 3d switch wasnt broke at all, which it isnt.

All you did was format using the Format option in System Settings? If that is the case then it sounds like a hardware issue. But you said that you checked all the connections and the 3D slider. It's almost like it's stuck in Parental Controls mode where 3D is disabled.

I cleared all of those settings so I was able to format the system. Maybe the 3d slider just gave out since its an old system :/ Luckily the replacement ribbon cable is so cheap to where I can buy 5 for a little over $20 just in case I rip one or two.

I don't see the need for speakers haha, goodluck on fixing the slider ;)
It sucks that I have to replace the whole cable. I thought I could just desolder the slider from the ribbon cable, but that was a lot harder to attempt than changing the cable itself.

just be VERY careful when you disassemble your console, you don't want to have a new problem just because of excitement (been there, done that!haha)

Oh trust me. I've been there as well. That actually happened with my majoras mask xl a few months ago when I had to replace the top screen. Wasn't being very careful and ripped the new screens cable in half. But I got the second one in perfectly fine

I just find it stupid that third party companies can't be bothered to make the ribbon cable as strong as Nintendo makes them
what is more stupid is that companies (including nintendo) use such cheap ribbon so they can repare or sell youi new products in case your ribon (specially the screen ribon got cutted or damaged)
i wish they could make ribbon separated from the screen like the old nds(the big grey nds)

Or better yet, use wires like how they use for the volume slider. itd be like a internal hdmi cord if they did it with a special wire and adapter.

wires won(t last for long , do you have any idea about how many wires on those 3 ribbons?
the audio/slider/bright ribbon : 18 wires
the camera ribbon : 38 wires
the lcd ribbon :44 wires
so the total will be like 100 wires +-10 for gnd and vcc XD

they can make those, yet they can't make decent sounding speakers for these systems lol. every 3ds I've owned, new and used, have always had not so good sound quality;

That's why i always play with headphones on
It lives! I finally had time to replace the ribbon cable. I also found out why the slider was t working on the cable it came with. It was so old that it E ended up tearin halfway through itself. But stopped just enough to where the speakers still worked. I now have a fully functional o3ds multi color (red and blue mix I did myself) on firm 3.0.0-4u. Next step: CFW at some point.
