Yes you can edit the save file with HxD if you correct the checksum (I think I might even have some info on that on my PC, messed around on my old save for a while).
You can't have more than 7 bottles though. But honestly I think you'd be better off with making cheat codes. That way you wouldn't have to worry about the checksum in the save file and so on. I made my own NTR cheat plugin for the European version of the game, I can give you my codes if you want.

Yes please, if you could include your cheat.plugin file that'd be lovely :D

Okay, so there's a couple of things to explain about this one
1. Pressing Start, Select and L activates the following cheats:
- Infinite Health (doesn't max out your heart containers, you'll always have as much health as you have heart containers, so you'd still be able to collect all pieces of heart)
- Infinite Ammo/Items (it'll display the right amount of items, for example it will display that you have 30 arrows, which is the max capacity if you haven't got any of the upgrades yet)
- Infinite Magic (magic meter will be filled like the original, non-upgraded one)
2. Pressing Start, Select and R activates the same cheat as SEL+ST+L except for infinite health, instead of that you'll always have a fairy in your first bottle. Do not use this before getting a bottle obviously.
3. Pressing A+B+down(D-Pad) after you've activated one of the two modes above will let you switch between the two different modes.

You may think all of that is a little bit over-complicated but I like things to be done neatly :P I always update the plugin after getting an upgraded quiver or bomb bag so it displays the correct amount :P and I prefer infinite fairies to infinite health because it makes me able to keep track of how many times I would have died :D

Awesome, thanks :D, I was hoping there'd be a code for mask unlocking early on too or something, but this is nice :)

just downgrade your browser to v17567 and use the ar3ds codes Retroboy and I ported to ar3ds from the old gameshark codes for the N64 version. these can found on fort42.com/ar3ds/
there's even an all masks unlocker. these work on both the US and the EU versions. I even made a code that allows you to use Fierce Deity Mask anywhere by temporarily replacing the equipped B button sword with it. it requires you have it equipped on one of the other buttons so that in RAM it will keep the mask on. and once you take it off your sword is back to default as the one equipped for the B button. there's also a hack to use powder kegs as normal form Link. @Retroboy and i made bottle codes too if you can't get the button toggles on the cheat plugin working. keep in mind the web browser doesnt load when the cheat plugin is used so use the ar3ds codes to do what the cheat plugin doesnt do and save first before using the cheat plugin. although after this i plan on porting my cheat codes from ar3ds to a cheat plugin anyway.

Ah no, I like to keep things legit ;)

Not quite legit, really. Not questioning the morality here.. But cheating is cheating. Interesting concept though. Keeping the hearts at the right number and same with the ammo counts. Good job there.

Of course it's not legit but what I mean is that I do like to cheat but I don't want it to mess with my progression through the game in terms of getting items for example

i made some nice real time item changer codes for gw.
also fierce deity mask forcing code, all masks, etc. check on fort42
much easier than using a save editor, because this sort of game is not that complicated/doesn't warrant a save editor, unlike some more complicated games.

I downloaded the fort42 cheats, tried activating them in-game, nothing is working... "have all masks" doesn't work..

think so, could that be why? should i delete it? (im not sure how to delete updates on games actually)
ha no the codes i made require 1.1, i'm sure my eur and jo codes work, but maybe my usa ones do have a problem, i tried to simply port them maybe it was not enough?
