Hi All,

Why is the SP the only system not to have a clear shell? Anyone able to shed some light on this? I'd like to have all my Gameboys in clear shells but for some reason you just cant get one for the GBA SP. If I knew who manufactured the other replacement shells I would sedn them an email, I'm sure they would sell like the proverbial hot cakes.

WRONG! 3DS, 3DS XL, and the New 3DS (XL) all don't have clear models
If you're talking about the 3DS being NATURALLY clear, meaning I can see the inside components, then you're correct. If you're talking about a clear shell CASE, then you're wrong. There are third party companies that make clear shell cases.

I want a clear 2DS shell. I can't believe nobody has aftermarket shells in production, given how cheap 3D printing is nowadays, and the market for them is WIDE OPEN. They literally just need to cast from official Nintendo molds, and either keep or ditch the nintendo logo.

It'd be kinda hard to make a case like that. Being a 2DS owner, I think that the thing would look kind of weird with a shell case

The Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire editions are transparent red and blue, and there is a yellow one coming out soon. They all look amazing.

I was talking about GameBoy Pocket, Gameboy Color, GBA, and the DMG just these old school hand held. 3DS and 2DS are pointless as you can mess shit up while taking it apart.
Only careless dumbasses can ruin shit, I am not those kinds of people. I'm no stranger to modding consoles sir. :)

So, it is confirmed then, the SP doesn't have a clear shell aftermarket option. They would sell tons of those and they would look amazing. Wonder if there is a technical issue which makes it impossible, cant think of one though. Anyone know who makes the aftermarket kits so I can fire off an email request?

I can only think of the people who make the REVO K101, the GBA clone. They obviously make custom SP shells for theirs, so maybe they can point you in the right direction?

Are you saying you know these guys, or do you mean I make contact with them?

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
