Gaming Will a Black New 3DS be released eventually in the US?

I just need a spare one on <9.2

I do have faith there will be kernel access on 9.3+ someday but we don't know how long that wait will be so I'm just gonna system transfer to a lower firmware system instead.

I do feel terrible that they essentially forced people to buy an XL with months of no news of the standard coming and that statement they made. However you did make the choice and at some point felt it was worth it.

Yeah, because they pretty much made it clear at the time that they weren't going to release a regular-sized one. So either you got an XL or nothing.

Like I said previously I adamantly waited for a standard size or I was simply going to move on to whatever the next gen handheld would be.

Whatever it is I hope it's backwards compatible, I got Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and that would suck if I never play it. It was on sale for $20 and didn't wanna pass that up. Worse case scenario I still own my Wii copy and can just play that on a console with better res, larger display, and a controller. I bought it mostly to see how different the two were.

Ugh I hate my N3ds xl so much, but NOA was SO insistent that there wasn't a place for the regular size in the US market and now i have to hurt my hands to play more than 20 minutes for no damn good reason.

As somebody who gets hand cramps on the normal sized 3DS, I can understand how much that would suck.

OP: The regular size N3DS has face plate swapping though, so I don't think you should worry about the initial color. At least on the outside, I don't know what the internal color options are.

No? It's a different color on the inside and having a shade like white can be distracting when viewing 3D which is the selling point of the hardware.

There's a reason movie theaters have black borders when projecting films.

Personally, I was interested in the new 3DS but mostly only if I could get a regular-sized one. Combines the 3DS and the DS Lite to make something even better (I hate the Start and Select buttons on the regular 3DS.)
But considering we can only get XLs, I might as well stick to regular 3DS. I mean, in the end I ended up with a regular 3DS XL, but I have -no- reason to want a N3DS over an O3DS. None of the N3DS exclusives particularly interest me, and I don't need better GBA and SNES emulation, given that I have a GBA with an EZ4 and all the SNES games I am interested in got GBA ports. There's also the thing where it seems like you are "safer" on an O3DS with CFW compared to an N3DS, given it may still be a long time before emunand over 9.5 is supported for N3DS, while O3DS supports up to the latest. I can just keep emunand updated and it's exactly as if I was using my 3DS legit, no problems accessing Nintendo Network, no problems accessing eShop, all without having to mess with installing additional things and spoofing stuff.

That, and all the games I am interested in that use the C-Stick work just fine for me with just the O3DS' buttons. I'd rather have the Start and Select buttons like the N3DS has, but at least on the O3DSXL they are already much better than on the regular O3DS.

I can see why someone would be interested in the N3DS, though, and for someone who was buying their first 3DS, I'd recommend the N3DS over an O3DS any day. Or, if you already have a 3DS and wanted a second one, might as well get a New.

You have to see from their point of view though.

Would you invest into real estate in a crime ridden neighborhood or sell hot chocolate in the middle of the summer, these things are not economically feasible and Nintendo or at least NoA decided this was not a profitable decision.

However this is also the first time in Nintendo history where they've decided to discontinue a hardware before the generation is even over. That contributes to the low sale numbers for the original size as it didn't have a chance to continue growing and thus they felt XL was the only one worth having.

They could of chosen a win/win solution and simply made it a limited print run similar to what Europe did with Fatal Frame 5. For some reason Nintendo also had very little faith in that game being successful just like the Standard new 3DS.

Many people invest into a crime ridden neighborhood in the hopes of making families and businesses grow to get rid of the crime. Nintendo does a lot of stuff backwards like region locking their devices so they may sell more copies limited on their site.
