Today I went to use IronHax only to find that it freezes with a yellow screen. After checking and replacing all of the homebrew files on my SD card, the problem still persists. As I didn't have any other entry points, I'm now locked out of homebrew for the time being.

If like me you're only using one entry point, you're pretty much screwed if you get locked out of it, as you have no other entry points to reinstall it from (depending on your firmware). So I'd definitely recommend getting a second entry point if that is available to you.

Why is this a PSA???

Besides if you didn't update ironfall to the new version and still have the ironhax save file you should be able to recover

It is a PSA in the fact that I'm raising awareness as to the problems that can occur if only one entry point is installed.

I didn't update and still have the save file, but cannot recover due to not having an entry point to recover from.

Yeah, I see your point. I only have Ironhax indeed and, if something like this happens, I'd be screwed. What are the first-degree hacks available for O3DS, now that we don't have Tubehax anymore?

Browserhax if you have under 9.9
Cubic Ninja if you can afford it or keep an eye out for a cheap copy somewhere
And while it isn't a first-degree hax, OOTHax if you don't mind a good game being used soley for exploiting purposes

Cubic Ninja would be your best bet as while it is expensive, once you do have a copy it's the best backup you have. Also you could technically install OOTHax independantly, but it requires a Powersave device and these instructions.

I completely agree with this PSA. I almost screwed myself my keeping browserhax only on both my O3DS and N3DS. Luckily my O3DS is at 4.5 OFW and I have a gateway, but my N3DS wasn't so lucky, at 10.1. If there wasn't several threads about browserhax still working on N3DS, I would be shitcanned.

Tl;dr Don't fuck around with only one hax. Get what you can now before it gets patched, or before something happens to you like what happened to the OP.

oot can be used with a savedongle if you have that. so it can potentially be first degree

what exactly changed?

it couldn't be that is just randomly locked up can it? this happens for me with various colors on both ironhax and ninjhax... just reboot and it works next time I try.

Well I've got Ironhax and I setup Menuhax last week. I can also use OOT if I really need it, I guess I'm fine.

So I think I'm fine. I'm on 9.9, so browserhax is my friend. Also a friend of mine have a Ocarina of Time cartridge and I already configured oothax for him, so I can always borrow it. Thanks for the info!

it is good to have a 2nd *hax (in Cart form(like OOT or CN ) working as back-up just in case you make a mess something up with your ONLY *hax (like using the wrong payload) on a digital system locked enter point

Under 9.9, not on. That being said though, I think there might be instructions somewhere that can help you prevent the notification to update from popping up. If you have already gotten the notification to update even once in the browser before though, you're SOL.

alternating the save slots for ironhax can add a bit of redundancy.
it might "fail" after a system update or if you lose your entire savedata, but you can recover from selecting the wrong fw/model when installing a feature/bugfix update.
