You could also use the Gambatte RetroArch core. It runs at full speed on my O3DS so I think this is your best bet.

I do and I like it but the audio really sucks in Gambatte IMO. Thanks for trying to help anyway!

When it hits certain notes in games it sounds like the speakers are popping.

Are you sure you're on the 2.5 payload? I can close my N3DS and it resumes just fine afterwards. Sleep mode not working from what i've understood was a 2.1 ninjhax thing that was fixed in 2.5

Everything but GameYob's sleep mode is working for me. It works in retroarch fine.

I also have no problems at all entering sleep mode in gameyob so it's very strange it does not work for you
