OP
I'm using Gecko OS to run my PAL Wii games on my NTSC Wii U and I'm having aspect ratio issues, when I boot up homebrew channel switches to and then when I boot up the game (eg Wii Sports Resort) in Gecko it is still displaying in 4:3 even though the game is configured for widescreen and the TV is set to 16:9

MultiModManager, Wad Installer. Seems like you might be using old stuff. Are you using Gecko OS for any specific reason?

YAWMM is another wad manager too. I cant think of any others off hand. I've used MMM since I found it before Wii U was out.

Oh. Yea, I don't know if the USB Loaders do discs Region Free or not on vWii. They do backups fine though if you don't need gecko for anything else specific like that.

In any case, did it fix it?
Dunno, before reading your solution I thought reinstalling HBC might fix it but unfortunately I don't have a 2gb SD card on me so I can't test it out till I get one and resinstall HBC.

Reinstalling homebrew channel won't fix it. It's a title issue. The vWii thinks HBC is a NES or SNES game or something (VC Game) and forces everything to 4:3. I couldn't figure it out either at first. You gotta use that Forwarder. I haven't seen any other way to get certain stuff in Widescreen, besides Forwarder Channels made for vWii correctly.

yea, I know but I already uninstalled it before finding that out, is Smash Stack still the only way to install it on a Wii U?

I don't think JoostinOnline made one the same color. I could make it the same color for you if you wanted, but not right now. It's 6AM. Lol
I felt it would be disrespectful to TT to use their original banner and icon (I was pushing things as it was to just change the color, and you never want hackers mad a you ;)), and I was worried people might accidentally uninstall the original if they wanted to get rid of the forwarder.

You can use any one of these exploits: http://wiiubrew.org/wiki/WiiMode

That's true. Could always modify the icon slightly too, though. Like add 16:9 Fix in the corner using same font, etc. Just an example. But I do get what you're saying. That's why I didn't bother making mine the same color either. Lol.

You say "modify the icon slightly too", but all I see is "do extra work."

I made those forwarders long before the Wii U was released. They were alternatives to the original channel for people who had DarkWii themes. I just updated the internal dol and ran them all through Convert2vWii so they could be used on the vWii.

Edit: Found the originals if you want them.

It's only "do extra work" because they were already done. I was speaking more hypothetically, that the background could be the same color as the original HBC, and just have a modified icon to have the same effect as a different background/wave color does in terms of helping prevent uninstalling the wrong one. Not saying that just making the icon different or modified would be easier or something that should be done, or should have been done.

It was a joke.

By the way, you should back up any that you think are interesting. If fail0verflow ever decides to update the HBC, I'll probably remove them. I told them I would.
