(Sorry if i'm wayy off here, but meh, might as well)

So i've seen a few tools now which can do glorious things with the extra data. Like install custom themes and set play coins to 300 :yaynds:

However.. what about demo usages..?
All I know about them is that they are not stored on the SD Card because installing to a different SD Card maintains the number of uses. However, Play Coins are not stored on the SD Card and they can be edited, no?

So maybe, just maybe, Demo usages can be edited this way? The only problem would be that every demo has it's own individual number so editing them would be hell.
(Also, not many people care about demo usages, while i'm annoyed that the EU Demo of Etrian Oddysey IV only has 3 uses.)

Maybe i'm on to something here, maybe i'm not. Over to you, 3DS hackers, what do you think?

If I remember it right, the demo count is stored somewhere in the game itself, and we have no way to edit that without a kernel exploit (so it is impossible to do on 9.3+), because it makes the signature invalid or something.

I'm probably wrong though, someone more experienced than me will probably give you a better answer (and maybe solutions!).

With FunkyCIA you can patch demos to have unlimited uses.
Okay, it's nice to know that feature exists.
This isn't usable on ironhax I presume? (Had a look, don't think so.

Well somehow the usage count stays when you reinstall the software, so... I dunno.

Also, if you format your system the counts reset, but I don't wanna do that! (And neither would most people)

You cannot use it with ironhax.

Maybe in the save data? Probably not, but you never know ;)
See, I would think it's inside the game itself, but then in that case how does the usage count stay the same throughout sifferent SD Cards?
i would assume the 3DS internal memory has some kind of table or database stating the game ID and it's uses.

Actually, I just looked on the e-shop demos article on 3dbrew, and the uses number of the software is stored on a save on the NAND... (you can look here for more info: http://3dbrew.org/wiki/EShop_Demos)
Since the ticket is probably linked to the game itself with the same signatures and everything, I think we can maybe reset the play count of the demo (as we can already access the savedata from any of the titles on the system), but not make it with unlimited uses...
Once again, I'm a complete noob, so I'm probably wrong, but it you ask devs, they will probably tell you if it's possible or not!

Afaik, save_manager and SDF can only access saves on the sd.

Oh, OK, since I was always seeing the system apps like Friend List or Mii Plaza while searching for my game with Save Manager, i thought it had access to the NAND saves too... My bad.
I don't know for sure, just as far as I know, it can only access sd saves. I will check.

Being able to rest the play count would be pretty great.
Aren't there some game demos that can give you access to the whole game, but (obviously) with limited uses?

Maybe, and if so, cheers!

I've played a lot a demos (like 30), and not any one is the full game with a restricted number of uses. Most of them don't even have saves to begin with. The most complete demos I ever played were the CodeName: Steam and Pokemon ORAS ones...
Doesn't exclude the possibility than it exists though, but I highly doubt it.

Cooking Mama 5's demo was also pretty complete if I remember correctly, but I used up all 20 (I think it was) plays about a year ago, so I could be thinking of maybe Cooking Mama on the DS instead.
