Gaming Sonic Colours is so gimmicky.

The game itself is great, think of it like Sonic Generations for Wii but unfortunately they forced the Wiimote + Nunchuk in the event that the user wants to drill through the ground. It's just silly that someone with a Wii Classic Controller can't have the same experience.

I also tried RE4 on the Wii U with the Wii Classic Controller and couldn't get used to the controls I'm used to CoD/BF/GoW type and RE messes that up. Something that felt cheesy was the repetitive cursing they'd say in Spanish. lol

Sonic Colours has Wii Remote/Nunchuck support because that's the default controller that comes with the system, they can't not support it. The game fully supports the Classic Controller and GameCube controller and arguably plays better using these controllers.

Ironically, you played Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition using the Classic Controller - a game designed for and plays best using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. The typical Resident Evil control scheme predates the CoD/GoW/etc. type, in fact the release of Resident Evil 4 itself predates these.

Why do I get the impression that you're not the biggest Nintendo fan? Just curious.
I intentionally bought a Hori GameCube-style controller to play Wii and Wii U games so as such I'd try to avoid Wiimote + Nunchuk if there's an option to use WCC.

I love using my Pikachu Hori controller for MK8 it's even better than the WUPC. :-P

I perhaps should try RE4 with Wiimote and Nunchuk since the WCC is a pain in the ass to control.

I'm generally not a fan of motion controls either, but Resident Evil 4 is one of the few Wii games that genuinely does play better with the Wii remote. In fact, it's basically the whole point of the Wii release.

An awful lot of Wii and Wii U game support the Classic Controller (and even the GameCube controller if playing on a regular Wii) so you can avoid the Wii remote in most cases.

You tried to play a Classic(ish) Resident Evil game expecting it would control like COD? what the hell? and also, who plays COD on Wii using the Classic Controller? And on the topic of Sonic Colors? The game i feel is miles ahead of Generations by a long shot and never had any issues using a Classic Controller on that game, or RE4.

I could have also mentioned Uncharted because the controls are similar.

I'll give RE4 a try tomorrow with Wiimote and Nunchuk.

Yeah I was skeptical with the Wii mote as i don't like it that much but the gcn would be much better and I'm going to have to find the game if I can.

(Also can the wiiu use the GameCube adapter for Wii games that allow the GC controller?)

Ehhh not really, Uncharted doesn't feel like Resident Evil at all.
The controls of Uncharted are the standard type of a 1st and 3rd person shooter so RE in comparison still feels awkward compared to them since the shooting isn't one of the triggers.

The Wii Mode was never updated to work with the GameCube adapter officially so it doesn't, sadly.

Oh well at least I still have my Wii. That is stupid though as it is just firmware and not redesigning games :(

The games that support the GC controller should just work as they would on the Wii so I'd guess a firmware update with this feature activated.

Despite no actual GC controller support you can always go with Hori or... ... ... PDP.

Hori does have advantages over the gcn such as games that can use it so there is that. I mean I'd like to get one when I get the money

It really feels like the real deal though it doesn't have analogue triggers or rumble but I don't mind it. Super light-weight controller this is!

Yeah it looks good and has wiiu and wii compatibility which makes it a better deal. I'll probably get one next visit to gamestop

I prefer the GameCube Wavebird and it was my main controller on the Wii, but when I switch to the Wii U I just made myself get used to the Classic Controller. It doesn't take too long to get used to it.
