Hacking N3DS and GW Updating Question

I have a N3DS and just got Xenoblade Chronicles. It requires FW 9.4.0-20U. Is it safe to update if I want to use both Gateway and be able to play XC? Thoughts appreciated

Xenoblade needs 9.2. You don't need to update to 9.4 to play the game. If you would like to use gateway or any benefit from ninjhax, stay at 9.2.

I am confused... I am on FW 9.0.0-20U, that is what my N3DS shipped with. I still want to be able to use GW and be able to play this game... Don't know what to do.

You can´t use GW on firmware above 9.2
You can rip your Xenoblade game, and use the CN or OoT exploit to get into GW mode and you can play your Xenablade rom in there (even on emunand 9.0)

Can you play retail card/cart in emunand? I mean, boot GW with OOT, then put in XC?

set-up emunand and then update your emunand by creating a 9.5 CIA using 3DNUS (and then install it on your 3DS).

How do I update the EmuNAND of N3DS without updating the SysNAND? My N3DS FW is 9.0.0-20U. Thoughts/help on all this appreciated
