Did you upgrade to 9.3? Maybe Sky3DS could be blocked by the time 9.4 and beyond comes out. But if you're looking for a flashcart solution for 9.3, this works.

having to press that blue button 37 times and wait several seconds each time to eventually get to the game you want to play VERY BAD

just wait 1 or 2 weeks for gateway and get the best there is. and its cheaper..

No, I'm sticking with 9.2 as per Gateway's instructions, but I'm tired of playing the cat and mouse waiting game. Gotta take a risk sometime, and I think the time is now.

Despite the lesser functionality, Gateways really running out of time.

For the average kid who wants to play Pokemons and what not, Sky3ds is the better solution. Its pretty much plug and play, perfect fof those not very tech savvy parents/kids.

It may sound idiotic, but Gateways falling a bit behind. Sure they announced support and even a video. But people's patience will run out soon enough.

Most Tempers know the better option, but the common consumer could care less.

Case in Point: All those clone R4s being bought. "We all know" the DSTwo is better overall but.. Yeah.

It's a possibility. After Sky3DS came out we got an update from Gateway regarding New 3DS and 9.0-2 support.

Wasn't there a ton of issues unlocking the 10 game limit? Stability is a worry, this is aimed at a more casual market than Gateway users yet seems to have a lot of hacky workarounds and limitations. For £60 you'd expect a safe experience and support for >2GB ROM's.

you do know that you only need to cycle the games that are on the micro SD card, right? if you have 2 cards, each with 5 games, you only have to scroll up to 4 times to get to the game you want to play.

As much as I believe that Sky 3DS are greedy as heck, they did do the scene a whole lot of good.
Sadly, most(lets be real here - best projection is 99%) of the people who buy flash cards are in it for the (unlimited) free games, not homebrew.
Gateway and clones were stuck in the v4.5 rut for a long time, mostly because it worked and there wasn't any need for a new exploit.
When Sky 3DS came out it forced a new reality on other flash cart makers - either get a new exploit and upgrade or get stuck in the past.
While I do believe that Gateway has the scenes best interest at heart, They were holding the new exploit very close and were reluctant to release it.
it's pretty comical to see how after about 2 years of not doing any progress on getting a higher framework version out, poof comes Sky 3DS, and gateway has its own solution as well.

in just 4 weeks this whole scene has gotten from only v4.5 consoles can support 3ds flashcarts to gateway will soon(tm) be releasing the ultimate, game changing, yada yada yada release(and based on the original hardware to boot!).

competition urges progress. even if that competition is greedy.

It's tempting, while we are all waiting for the Gateway solution, Sky3DS is already released and compatible with all firmware version despite its number of setbacks. We can literally go out and buy a Sky3DS card now and it will work on our New 3DS's and 9.X firmware. But I think it is best to wait for Gateway for insurance in the future. I have a feeling once Sky3Ds is blocked on some new firmware it won't get much support beyond that. Gateway seems more safe if you're looking into the long term.

So this is the way the 3DS scene is going. Back to the old disposable flashcarts that become junk every few months when they release a new one. $90 worth of junk. At least Gateway has the common sense to make their cart updatable.

I don't buy that they had no way of removing the game limit themselves. They probably just didn't bother to spend any effort on figuring out how since they can sell more flashcarts if they don't. Now that someone cracked it and ruined that for them, they probably thought something along the lines of "hey, we can still sell more flashcarts by releasing a new cart with the fix so it's all good"

I'm really choosing Gateway due to Multi-Rom, Region-Free and eShop support.

If Sky3ds gets that (except multi-rom) Gateway will be looking at tough competition.

AFAIK, there are only assumptions on how they managed to emulate a real card, what if(this might be a stretch) the only way of blocking Sky 3DS is by creating a new type of card and blocking all of the old cards? is that really an option for Nintendo? cut off all released games?

oh well - we'll see what happens in the coming months...

It still calls for swapping shit around though. I think having one cart with a menu select is better.

However it is good for non-tech savvy people though. Just like the ODEs are.
