I'm in the market for a new console, yet after this, I may consider a JP import of the new 3DS, before any other update is pushed out that may block this, if this Multi region is true. Screw paying for a Aussie version, as they are way over priced at the moment

It took them almost 2+ years, but it's finally happened. This is no doubt a kernel exploit as that would be the only way you can install CIA files. Although how the exploit works is still speculation. They may have indeed used Smealum's Cubic Ninja exploit to use their own kernel exploit (or bought the kernel exploit from an undisclosed devoloper). While it may use the Cubic Ninja exploit to some degree, I doubt it works the same way Smealum's exploit did, because Smealum's exploit doesn't have kernel access.

Watch as the prices on Cubic Ninja plummet once this card comes out. Which is sorta good. For those not interested in piracy, they may finally have an affordable option once this comes out and renders Smealum's exploit obsolete. So most of those who want more will move on leaving this older exploit behind resulting in price drop. :D

Homebrew won't die. This just gives us more options for launching and executing.
yeah if this doesnt need cubic ninja to trigger the exploit.....basically im sure smealum could port ssspwn to work with the new entry point.....still homebrew only, just no reliance on cubic ninja

despite how people like to bash gateway, you have to give them credit where credits due, without them there would literally be nothing at all in the 3DS scene right now

Well, color me impressed. And everybody was expecting there to be some catch, like no multi-ROM, no .cia support, no homebrew support, etc. The only thing they haven't shown off yet is emuNAND support, and that's likely only because there is no update to try it on at this point.

ikr....im like :O.......every-time i'm a bit skeptical, and every time gateway goes above and beyond what was expected......and all this with no sly "oh buy our 2015 card".........in my eyes now gateway deserve every penny they get, screw the people who are like "why do we need to pay we need free rom loader".....screw that consider it a donation for all the hard work these guys put into making everything they do so bloody impressive

Doesn't look like a kernel exploit to me.... Looks like the Sky3DS method but with a much improved software menu for loading the games. (This is just what I've been expecting.) I could be wrong, though.. and I'm sure I'll get a lot of hate for saying this, even if it turns out I am right. -_-

Is it the .CIA support which guarantees that this must be an exploit?

Please tell me you're joking...

So, you're saying that they've taken Sky3DS hardware and moved it to a software state? That multi-rom loader I don't think would be possible without some sort of kernel based exploit. Also, CIA.

My biggest question is, if I keep the 4.5 3DS I've got, and proceed to get a 9.2 N3DS. I don't want to buy two gateway cards, I'd like to know If id be able to switch between both consoles at will after the red card has been updated and If not the pro's and cons of each, 4.5 still has the edge. Hopefully I'll be able to switch between both.

Yeah and Nintendo happily signed their ROM selection UI code..
