Edit: Hello Tempers, I'm looking for an old school console to play. The reason why is that I'm tired of playing high quality games such as 6th, and 7th gen. I'm also tired of emulating old video games on newer consoles. I just really want an old video game console, and want to see what it really feels like to play back in those days. Maybe just maybe, it will get me back into the gaming scene. I'm mainly into Rpgs, so if you have a good one let me know. I'm specifically only looking for 2D games for the older consoles.

PSX/PS2 are fantastic for your needs. The games aren't as tedious as the NES/SNES in terms of getting into them. The other options would be a NES/SNES, but they do cost a bit more.

I suggest checking out Amazon and http://www.lukiegames.com/
I buy games on both sites and also a local game store here.
The SNES and PS1/2 are treasure troves of RPG's. With games like Breath of Fire (SNES, PS1, PS2) all the classic Final Fantasy games, Dragon Warriors (Quest.) and countless others.

What kind of condition do the games come in from lukiegames?

I'm going to check out the library for the PSX, and see if they have a lot of 2d games. I'm specifically looking for 2d games only, since they give me a vibrant feeling whenever I play.

I'm checking out that website right now, and see what they have up for stock that I'm interested in. Thanks both for the suggestions :).

Though you would not do badly with a SNES I might offer the alternative of a megadrive/genesis. Someone decided old games were now cool so prices for such vintages of games have been going up for years.

I might also suggest an Amiga, however its RPG library, while extensive and with several stone cold classics, is more western RPG than the sorts of things that got themselves popular elsewhere.

Mine came in fair conditions. No real visible damages, working just fine, about as good as one would expect a 20 year old game to look.

I'd love to get a PS2 again and I had one about 5 years ago when I first got a HDTV but the problem was it looked absolutely horrific to the point of being unplayable. I've seen all the HDMI upscaler things floating about for the older consoles. Do any of them actually work at all does anyone know? I'd love to play through some old PS2 games again.

Lucky me, my cousin have one Sega Genesis that he said that I can have, since my grades are good in school. Nostalgia as a present with Tazmania?... I ACCEPT lol.

SNES is the pinnacle of 2D gaming, plus it had a good RPG selection.

Sega do what nintendon't... Just kidding!. But I agree with you, the SNES have a great and varied RPG library, I'm not into RPGs but I love Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG and Earthbound, those three are highly recommendable... BUT really rare and expensive (at least where I live).
