Hello!
I've got a new 2TB 512b-sector HDD and replace my old 4k-sector 2TB HDD which is incompatible with DIOS-MIOS.
Copied all my GC content to new one just to see that DM does not work again.
When I trying to launch GC titles I've got "black screen" (most of times) or Wii power off.
No DM logo. No "green screen". No error message.
My config:
- "old" Wii with GC ports, GC pad and memory card;
- USB Loader GX 3.0 Rev1226;
- IOS 249 (Rev21010) + AHB (d2x v10beta53-alt base56);
- DIOS-MIOS v2.10;
- 2TB drive, 512b sector size, connected to bottom USB;
- FAT32, 32k cluster size, first primary partition (second primary partition exist, NTFS, for Wii games images).
What can be wrong?

How are your game placed on your HDD?
Do you use component cables ? ( you should! )
What is your partition size?

Why ntfs for your Wii games?
If I where you I'd stick with fat32 for all gaming needs on your Wii.
You will enjoy emunand channel loading, emulator roms loading etc without problems.
These features are not available when you are using NTFS.

Dual formatted setups like these are bound to give problems, at least in my experience.

X:\games\Game Name [GAMEID]\game.iso

Do you use component cables ?

Yes, I do.

What is your partition size?

About 500GB

Why ntfs for your Wii games?

"Historically" I would say.
Sure NTFS is way faster than FAT32 on very big partitions and very big files.
What will I "win"by concatenating 2 partitions into 1 HUGE FAT32?

If I where you I'd stick with fat32 for all gaming needs on your Wii.

But I was sure that I can load GC images and emunand channels from FAT32 partition while loading Wii images from second NTFS partition.

I will try to reformat my drive to single FAT32 as soon as I will find a place to backup all my GC & Wii images.
But may be something can be done right now with dual-partition setup?
Coz I was sure that I meet all requirements for DIOS-MIOS to work flawlessly.

your setup is fine.
The second partition doesn't conflict with DM, don't worry about it.

DIOS MIOS use tinyehdi for usb support.
This USB driver is unfortunately not compatible with all drives.

When DM doesn't display the splash screen and stay on a black screen it's in a loop in an attempt to mount the drive and partition.
I have two seagate drive which are working randomly.
Sometime it correctly sends the good PID/VID and drive informations, DIOS MIOS works and the game boot.
Sometime it sends a different PID/VID and Interface value. DIOS MIOS stay in the reset loop until it gets the correct interface data, which never happen.

I need to shutdown the wii and try again few times.

I don't know about your drive's USB to IDE card.
Maybe it's randomly providing incorrect data, or maybe it's always providing incompatible data.

To check the data sent by your drive, you need an USBGecko and an old DIOS MIOS version (1.4 maybe? I don't remember which version did log that).
Newer version doesn't log all the mounting process.
