I'm confused. Some weeks back, it was said that the video game aspect of sony was a sinkhole and that other departments needed to chip in to keep things afloat.

...and now the credit rating is lowered despite the prospects in the video game department of the company?

Their gaming division in a volatile state, the Vita is a failure and the success of the PS4 is unknown for at least a year or two. Hence why they are prospects, only future success will change things.
