Well, all guides and apps I found so far does not seem to work on Win8.1 x64.

Is there any (hopefully easy) way to inject a different rom in a N64 wad on a modern system?

Don't know the answer for sure, but with some Xbox 360 ripping software I was using on Windows 8, it would not run on my system because of .NET Framework issues.

To solve them, I had to download and install the .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable from Microsoft.

What do you want to inject? Tell us the title before you waste your time, because if it's a Rareware title or one of the many other incompatible games, you're outta luck and that often seems to be the case. That, and injecting won't give you a terribly huge edge over Not64 these days. ;)

With Google, GBATemp and ShowMiiWads, this is how far I got:

-Extract WAD to folder
-Extract 00000005.app
-Replace the rom
-Repack U8 archive
-Replace old 00000005.app with my new one
-Pack WAD

When I repack the U8, should it be without header and no Lz77 compression?

Am I doing it right?

Sorry, it's just a different version of Ocarina Of Time. I want to play the v1.1 or v1.0 version without the censored parts of the game.

Did you try using Impaler's WAD Injector or Auto Injectu WAD Injector instead of doing it manually? If those haven't worked, have you tried running them in Compatibility Mode and with Administrator's Privileges turned on?

i wouldnt try out injected wads on vwii as most injected dont and wont work and it could tell you your system menu is corrupt if you pick the wrong game. (could possible lead to a semi brick in vwii)

Source on this?

As far as I know, the only thing that could cause a semi-brick is a faulty banner.

I'd rather inject myself. Don't know why.

I fixed it now, so it's all good. Ended up using the GC-version anyway... :-)
