im fixing my friends 2g ipod and its stuck on greenpoison's jailbreak logo and wont boot in to recovery mode what do i gotta do?

iTunes won't put it into recovery mode huh? Have you tied putting it into DFU mode.

It doesn't make sense that your device won't go into DFU mode. That ability cannot be affected by any firmware modification.
You could always try to enter recovery using TinyUmbrella or redsn0w.
