Ipad 4 vs Nexus 10

Hi I can't decide which to buy since this is my first time buying a tablet. I heard that the iPad has more apps/game dev support like capcom and squareenix but it has 1 GB of RAM instead of the 2 GB the Nexus 10 has. It would be awesome to also know which of the two emulate Psx and n64 games.

Android has better emulator support then iOS. As for how well it can do PSX or n64, I've never tried so I can't answer.

There was only ever one emulator* in the iOS App Store, and that was for MAME, and it was removed a few days after being put up. You will have no luck trying to find an emulator without a jailbreak, and there is no public jailbreak available for the iPad 4.

So as far as emulating the N64 and PS1, it doesn't. Even if it could, the Nexus 10 would probably be superior in doing so, as it has better specs all-around.

*As far as I know, and I am ignoring things like the app made by Atari that plays old Atari games. The MAME emulator who's name escapes me could play user-loaded ROMs.

What about the battery life in tablets compared to smartphones. I have an HTC One S phone, and after playing any games for 30 minutes like shadowgun, the battery life is almost halfway dead. And do the ipad4 metal/aluminum body gets extremely hot while running any high end games or apps, because my I had to buy a silicone cover for my One S becuase of that problem. My final 2 questions are, are there any/many truly free apps in the ipad app store, or just lite versions of games, and can i use 3rd party accessorry or anythin extra for the ipad like a wiimote, keyboard, etc.

I think the problem with the Nexus 10 is that it's always sold out at Google's site. Even so, I've got a Nexus 7 and there isn't a lot of tablet specific apps at the moment.

Although, you'll have to pay for games like Angry Birds on iOS, but you can download it for free on Android. Bluetooth keyboards will work fine on the iPad, but don't expect to sync your PS3 controller or Wii Remote with it.

i keep hearing positive thing about the Nexus 7 in gbatemp and many other sites. Is it worth buying that one, or the Nexus 10. For the iPad 4, it seems pretty limited from what I have heard until now. I will go to the mall to try the ipad out in the apple store, but if it dissapoints me, I will get the N7 or 10. Thanks for the replies guys.

I wouldn't recommend the Nexus 7 since games not optimized for Tegra run like crap on it, specifically, Gameloft and EA games. The latest update for Need for Speed: Most wanted actually took away graphical effects and it goes down to 10FPS sometimes. :/ Also, since the N7 has been out since last summer, a refresh with much better specs (Maybe Tegra 4) should be due in the coming months. I'd personally go for a Tegra 4 7" Tab in the next few months or grab a N10 if I had the cash.

I've never been a big fan of touchscreen gaming but for browsing, watching movies and reading manga, I absolutely love my Nexux 7. Are you chosing the ipad 4/nexus 10 for the big screen size? I used to think that a 7" screen wouldn't be good enough but I was pleasantly surprised at how sharp the screen can be. Only downsides with the N7 is:

No back camera (but it does have front camera for skype... which I never use)
No micro sd (to be honest, I have a hard drive connected to a wireless router so it never bothered me when I could stream stuff to it)
Lack of apps that make use of the tablet space. You CAN use apps developed for the phone on the N7 but it'll be stretched out and look a little blurry.

For anime stuff, it can struggle a little bit with 720p or 1080p MKV stuff (at least when I used MX Player) but I think that depends on which codec the groups used in the first place.

iOS seems to get first and better games from major developers than Android. But Android is by far more versitile with mods, hack, emulators, or such. Newest Android.devices also have much more raw power. Downside is that there are too few apps that take advatage of advanced android hardware. We're about to get uber awesome Tegra 4 tablets when there are only just a few things that use Tegra 3.

Speaking of emulators...

Android has a NDS and PSP emulator which in the future can be capable of great things.
