Wanted to let this out for quite some time (but then some idiot hacked so yea).

[rant]

If you check out Aksys' site and all, you will see that something bad occurred which I believe was pointed out a few posts earlier. Here's a short recap. So apparently those who preordered the game before the preorder bonus was announced were not automatically given the bonus. Here is the deal breaker for many people. Aksys pretty much promised that they would and requested that these people not cancel their orders and rush during the 2nd wave. And to make matters worse, initially Aksys and Amazon were just pointing fingers at each other, seemingly not wanting to take responsibility for the booboo. Many people felt screwed over. Well, I understand.I too felt disappointed that such a thing happened to them because I would probably feel just a pissed if I were in their position.

However, after some time, Aksys and Amazon sent exclusive emails to these people with a link to purchase the preorder bonus. And they did provide a decent explanation for the mess up. Which should have been a good conclusion to the fiasco.

But no. People were raging and blasting both companies. HARD. Until now. Because there is one idiot who decided to publicise the supposedly exclusive link. So the watches that was supposed to go to the earlybirds got taken away. Now, they keep complaining about how Aksys is forsaking their loyal fans. Again and again. And from what I read, some of these guys are even pissed at people who got the watches legitly. And the one excuse which I loathe the most is "I have a life and I can't stalk the page man jeez i wan da watch nao". They are proposing crazy ass "solutions" which I don't really recall now. Heck some are still giving Aksys sh!t for doing the promo on Amazon as opposed to Gamestop. WTF serious?

Well I came upon a really good counterargument in one of the comments/ forum posts. While Aksys made a mistake by promising, the buyers did agree and commit to buy the regular version of the game at time of order. And as such, not getting the watch should not be a issue to start with. And after all, they DID try to make amends by sending you the link to get it. So if you "have a life" and what not, how is that Aksys' problem? And in what universe do you blame Aksys if there is a fool who makes that link public? It seems that ever since the watch was announced, it has been prioritised over the game itself.

And we wonder why companies rather give some lousy DLC instead nowadays.

And you wanna cancel order and boycott other products to show that your stance on the matter? No worries. Cos surely Aksys will still localise other games which no one seems to want to do when it is not really all that profitable while getting rubbish from weeaboos.

*sigh* If only these people can see how fortunate they already are. I admit I am no saint. I have bashed RSG for going single audio and not having the watch. And I apologise for that. Cos at least I can get to play the 3DS version in English.

Hmm I think my wall of text is kinda incoherent atm. May rephrase at a later date.

I applaud you if you managed to read all that. Do forgive me. Just that it seems so sad that fans can also turn out to be so shitty. :(

I guess that makes sense. We are Sigma so they make the main character to not have voice.

I wonder if there'll be any anime styled cutscene like in the OVA?

From what I got out of the trailers (still didn't get the game yet, coming in later today~) the game consists more of a 3D model art instead of the anime art they used in 999 and the OVA. So if there are any cutscenes it'll probably be with the 3D-models

Been playing the game for a few days now(more like on and off since release day). The PEC Room glitch(Do not save during that, only before and after. Don't save during any puzzles, actually.) kept discouraging me(just kept freezing, thankfully no save erasure), otherwise I'd probably have it completed by now. I'm enjoying it, but I don't know if I enjoyed 999 or this more. Probably 999, much more tense.

I do have a question about the watches, though. 999's preorder watch had, afaik, no issues on getting them all out to everyone who preordered, and those were made of metal and rubber. Meanwhile, VLR's watches are made of plastic and rubber. Why did they have a problem with manufacturing the VLR watches, yet not 999s? Yes, I have both, and the VLR one feels nicer to wear, but is of much lesser quality than 999s.

They probably misjudged how big the fanbase was. And they got burnt by the 999 watch overproduction to boot. Like you said, the 999 watches were made of metal and all so I would assume that it is more expensive. Then, they don't charge extra if you get the game WITH the watch unlike some collector's edition games you find out there.

On a slightly unrelated note, one complaint I see on Aksys' forums by the butthurt (as in those who just keep whining and QQing over the incident and expect Aksys to give them unicorns as compensation for betraying their 'loyalty' pffft) is that they should just manufacture shitloads of watches etc. While this may seem like a solution, I think these people forget that the watches still take money to make. And what would happen if they have excessive stock (again)? Sell it on their site for $5? Sure that will get rid of the stock but I am pretty sure that will eat into their profit margins if they have any left.

Hmm. Well, they should've been able to judge that just fine from the amount of pre-orders. I'd say people are well within reasonable boundaries to be upset about this. It was less a pre-order gift and more a "pre-order in this tiny time period and get a watch". And honestly, they couldn't've been that expensive to make. No more than $5 per watch, combining labor to produce them, and to build them. But alas, I am not a factory person.

If they were smart, they'd do exactly what they did with the watches for 999, but this time only make as many as get ordered. Production can't take too long for em.

You have to remember that Aksys isn't exactly one of them super big companies. From what I remember, the watch is an Aksys exclusive. Even in Japan, they do not exist. And I assume that preorders were not exactly too promising before they announced the watch. But of course this is all just assumptions on my end. Anyway, according to them, those who DID preorder were supposed to get it but something went wrong somewhere and there was a miscommunication with Amazon which led to watches running out.

And yea. I understand that people are pissed. And I accept that. I was sorta miffed too when I missed out on the 1st wave because it came out of the blue and sold out like freaking quickly. I was referring to the people who treated it like it was the end of the world or as if Aksys kidnapped their family and forced them to play the Nonary game. My very biased recap a few posts above may provide a bit more info. Or just head to Aksys' site and read the comments and the forums. You'll see what I mean. One funny comment I found was "Damn you Aksys, now I have to get it from the scalpers" (not exact wording but you get the idea)...... wait whut?

My bigger problem is with them scalpers. I remember there was one guy who put up an offer to sell it for $150 pretty much RIGHT AFTER the 2nd wave. And now there are some selling for $85. While what they are doing is not technically illegal (or is it?) but jeezzus.... How much of an asshat can these people get?

Well that's what happens with all pre-order collectables that weren't available en masse. That one isn't 999-specific.

I'll take it if you don't want it
Not if I steal it first~ :3

Anyways, I like Seaking have approximately~ played 12 hours on it and got 4 endings, 2 game overs and 2 "to be continued" and i have to say those TBCs drove me crazy. I was like 'really?! ur really gonna end it there?!" but yeah, the game's pretty crazy, I've been playing at every chance I got. 3D models came out better than i expected and the graphics in general r cool in 3D, wish they had more cut scenes though. The English audio actually isn't that bad sounding, except for the Zero 3 who sounds high out of his mind and that the voice actress had WAAY too much fun voice-acting him, but I guess that suits him XD. Is it just me though or are the puzzles easier than 999? Maybe it's cuz I have't gone through all the doors but none of them took too long to solve for me, at least not like in 999 when I was about to throw my DS across the room out of frustration. I heard other people saying it's harder than 999 so it might just be me. Pretty surprised though that this game takes place just a year after 999. I mean how can this...
