You've no doubt heard of GBAtemp's critically acclaimed podcast, the Tempcast, a weekly program we produce to discuss gaming, homebrew, and all the other things which matter to our community. Now is your chance to contribute!

We are seeking new members who are interested in participating in these discussions on at least a semi-regular basis.

Requirements:
-You are interested in discussing gaming and other topics relevant to GBAtemp
-You have a decent mic and aren't recording in an area with ridiculous background noise (on top of a moving train, in the front row of a heavy metal concert, in the pits of hell)
-Your schedule allows at least a few Friday evenings (~7-12 EDT) each month for recording, which generally take about two hours

If you qualify:
You'll need to send us a clip, it should be at least a minute long talking about whatever you desire, preferably something that you're knowledgeable about. Be aware that we'll use this clip to determine your mic quality, charisma, insight, comprehensibility, and so one, so make it good (use bullet points if necessary, not a script). You can record yourself using Vocaroo, Audacity, the Windows default sound recorder, or whatever recording software that tickles your fancy. All that matters is that an attachment or link ends up in the inbox of 'gbatempcast(AT)gmail(DOT)com' with the subject line "Podcast Crew".

Don't be shy, we'd love to listen to your beautiful voice.

Once I get a better mic, I'll try out. It was pretty fun being on the "Lost" podcast. Gah it took Nick forever to do the Mario intro.

Go for it, you don't need a crazy expensive mic to sound good. Check here for some ~$20 headsets.
I would be interested, but I am a very shy person and lack a good mic.
Well one of those things is easily fixable :P.

How often do you need to be on?
At least once a month, the most important thing being that you could tell us when you will be available a week in advance.
Hmm, okay. I am very interested. Do you still want me to send you a clip? You've heard me before, but I can send a clip if you'd like.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Damn Frontier is offering 5Gbps now lol
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Every games basically cross platform they only have about 6 titles making it worth the $600 price tag
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
nintendo needs to up their game soon
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah even bt support for Xbox one controllers are just as easy as pairing
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Xinput and 360 dongles were a driver nightmare
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
