The console being dead has nothing to do with the legality of pirating games. tueidj didn't want to make a warez loader, so he added AP to it.

yup ..nothing wrong with his decision.

and questioning his motivations would be off topic (as maxternal pointed) ...so people should avoid it

I understand how he doesn't want his tools used to perpetrate piracy, and I respect that.

However, I do wonder at what "the ultimate point" is of having the AP in devolution. DIOS-MIOS can play most games, pirated or not. We've had GC disk backup loaders for years. Those who want to pirate have plenty of options for doing so. Putting AP in Devolution isn't really going to stop it from happening.

Anyone has checked the DVVs yet? Obviously they are created in a specific way. Assuming they use some unique key, by figuring out how the DVVs are created one can possibly code a valid DVV creator. If I would have a second Wii, I would compare the DVVs and see if this gets me anywhere.

It's going to stop it from happening with HIS work though. That's the point. He doesn't want his work used for illegal activity, which I think is understandable.

Errr.... Directly from the rules:

These rules also apply to other "warez" too, not just ROM, WAD and ISO files; this includes (but is NOT limited to) - licensed and copyrighted software, code, movies, music, video games, magazines, comics, e-books, television shows, illegal torrents, etc. These rules also account for "keygens" and "cracks" including how to obtain, apply or install them.

I know that cracking an app is awesome for devs and such that have implemented heavy AP, but still, this should be done in silence, and its release should ONLY be named here on GBAtemp - letting the interested users eventually search for it.

Sooo, closed.

EDIT: We're actually debating on wheter this rule applies to this thread or not. Decision will be taken from staff as soon as possible. Thanks.
EDIT2: The staff has decided that this thread won't be re-opened.
