DeadlyFoez will become a billionaire by stealing all your dunashionz. EH HE HE
Yeah, I wish I was a dishonest person because then I wouldn't have been walked on so many times. But that is not the case.

This is not like the US lottery whereas it is a tax on stupid people. I'm only out to help ppl.

Another rule is that your eticket purchases will be determined by your NET paypal purchase amount. This means if you send $5.00 but after paypal transaction fees the amount DeadlyFoez receives is less than 5 dollars (ie. $4.50), you will only get 4 etickets. Paypal allows you to select how transaction fees are payed and by whom, so you can ensure DeadlyFoez receives $5.00 exactly by opting to pay the fees yourself, so that you will pay $5.10 (or whatever it works out to be).

I would be more than happy to pick the winners , and the way it could be done is this .
You tell me what the raffle numbers are after the closing period .

I will then randomly select the the numbers that are chosen as winners .
To keep it fair , I will not participate .
To make it even more fair the numbers I seclect will then be passed off to someone else who doesn't know me or either of you , and then that person will decide what number wins what.

In a nutshell , say the numbers are 1-100 and you have 4 prizes to give away , I then select 22 , 45 , 93 , 69 ....... you then pass those numbers off to somone else , and he decides 22 gets x , 69 gets y , 45 gets z , 93 gets A

Thanx air2004, but it is not needed. We've already got that worked out. The details will come when we start the official contest. We will make an official announcement of the date that we will start taking in donations within the week.

Changing the region is sometime not enough.

There are also power supply problem (50/60Hz 110/220V + power adapter needed in some country).
But that will be in all awareness that people from other region participate in the raffle/lottery.

Users can always buy a power supply to nintendo's website.

I think that a matching psu should be included in the 1st place.
If the winners are determined before actually buying the prizes that should be posible.

That is already advisable because only then the total cost of the prize can be determined (e.g. shipping rate).
Start at the top and when the money runs out simply drop the rest of the potential winners.
Only then you go and actually buy the stuff.
As I see this is the only way to accomodate the different shipping rates and still offer as much prizes without risking a net loss.

BTW: only use a mechanical adapter (one that does not change voltage or frequency)
a adapter that adjusts voltage or even frequency is not really efficient, cheap and stable (one or perhaps two but not all three)
just get a matching psu instead.

Two things;

1) Shipping. This community is an international one. I run a company that ships items all over the world every day and you would be shocked at how much it costs to ship items. You should figure around $75 to ship which will include the cost of the box, tape, label(s), 5 copies of the packing slip affixed to the exterior of the box inside a resealable plastic pouch, gas to get to the post office, time to wait in line at the post office and finally, insurance on the item (if available).

2) In the unlikely event not enough tickets are sold, how will you handle the "unused" funds?

Thank you.

I had totally overlooked the whole thing about the power brick. Yeah, that is another potential cost. I would probably have to just order it and drop ship it to the winner. If I do have to purchase a power brick for the winner (which has a pretty good chance of happening), I will probably just take the original power brick and keep as another prize (but who would want to get just a power brick), or I could use it for more tech work.

Yeah PsyBlade, thats how we were thinking about doing it, but at this point I think that we will get enough donations where we should be able to ship all prizes and possibly get a couple extras to hand out.

Thank you everyone for your input.

1. Yeah, shipping can become shockingly expensive.

2. If there doesn't happen to be enough donations to even purchase and ship the wii then we will return everyones donation minus whatever paypal charges for the transaction fee, but I honestly doubt it will come to that.

Why don't you just region-change the power brick? Sounds like another amazing project.

you can't just change the power brick to a different region, with out the proper prongs,(germany is round, i think japan an outhers from that region look like 220v here in the US.)
plus you'll have the internal power coil, resistiors, an my be even the chip board itself. in the long run it's cheaper just to buy a new one. an have it shipped to the winners address.

Prongs are very cheap, and modding a power plug to supply a different voltage is pretty easy.

It would also be cheaper to just buy a Wii with GC compatibility - but not a great achievement.

?? lets see i can find the ones with no gc support in my neck of the woods for 25-60$ used at pawnshop or at the flea market.(swap meet). were as people want more for the ones with gc support, 75-120$.. at the same places, just cause the ones with out the gc support are newer. doesn't always meen better, or it's the hot new thing to have.

Yeah, no way am I going to waste the time to do that. It wouldn't look nearly as pretty as a factory made one. Maybe if I was doing it for myself then I would, but not for someone that would be winning something.

I thought some one donated a Wii to you too do this? Cool way of getting other people to pay for it though.
Someone had offered one, but at that point we were just starting to brainstorn on the idea of a raffle. It was actually Shano56 that came up with that idea. I decided to go along with it because that would mean that I would have a chance to dump the nand before ever turning the wii on. A few weeks back giantpune had asked me if I ever got to dump a completely virgin nand, and that is something I promised him that I'd do at my first possible chance. Although I have dumped a non hacked virgin nand for him before, it would be really helpful if I could get him a nand dump from a wii that has never been turned on.

A few good things might come out of that "never been turned on nand dump, is that it could help giantpune to be able to get his ohneswanzenegger app to even more precisely make a virgin nand dump, but also that giantepune or someone else may be able to extract the factory .dol that was run on the wii before it got packaged. Some people have done the latter, but I haven't seen anyone thats done it in recent times. This may give us a little more insight as to what happens on the factory level.

For the record, if not enough people buy into this, I may very well pay you over the summer to get me of the new Wiis DeadlyFoez (obviously I'd pay shipping and everything, and some extra for the GC stuff), that way you can dump the NAND and we can all see how this works with the GC ports on it. This is only gonna happen if I am able to get a second job, though... :/ Target money just isn't enough for anything anymore.

In any event though I am definitely gonna throw some money into this raffle. I'm excited :D

I've had 2 members say that "If you dont get enough from donations then I will give whatever is needed so you can make this happen", or pretty much to that effect. So with that, I am sure we will not fall short. We have a great community here with everyone wanting to help out in the pursuit of overall knowledge and the greater good for the community.

I'm sure that we can pull this off, and I hope that you win. Everyone truly deserves to win. This community is great.

I am taking a few days off from my work on this. I have done lots of work and have considered redesigning the ModMii website to accommodate this contest, but it is a lot of work that I am mostly doing myself. Even if I don't revamp the ModMii website, I still have a lot of work to do, and this is all out of my free will and generosity to the community.

I had the ambitions of starting to take donations this Friday, but I still have so much to work out. I want to make sure that we have everything solid before we accept donations.

Ill buy several "tickets" :) This site is worth the investment as I've met some really cool and smart people here that have really helped me make some terrific Wii mods (around 50 of them now)

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"

Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
